Yep only a 1k powerband on the oil burner (I also have access to a R plate D Turbo), around 100-105 mph top end.
On the upside 40 mpg isn't to be sniffed at

I had one as a uni runabout. D turbo's are a good compromise between great fuel economy and a bit of power. Like most diesels you have to stir the gears to get the power out of them, but considering they will do 40/50 mpg that's a small price to pay.

p.s. Van Aaken near Bracknell will 'tamper' with it for you and make it noticeably quicker, whilst maintaining excellent mpg.

IIR the pre-facelift ones only had the 1.9 90bhp engines. The later ones had the 110bhp 2.0 HDi's.

The 2.0 HDI engine was introduced when they revised the range in '99 but it still only had 90 bhp, the common-rail technology just meant it used less fuel than the 1.9 TD.

My dad had a 306 d turbo which we took to Van Aaken for them to "play" with. A VERY noticeable difference and worth every penny IMHO.
