Folks...I'm about to pick up a new car next friday, and the dealer is giving a full RAC 5* warranty (inc A/C and ABS) for 3 months.

What I would like to know is:-

1) Are these any good?
2) Once the warranty runs out should I renew it, or are there other companies that offer the same service for better value.
3) Is it a good idea to take the car to a main dealer for an examination under the RAC warranty and get them to clear any problems it may have?

Thanks ppl............

as with all warranties, make sure a) you find out what is and isn't covered and b) what the upper cost limit is. Some warranties only pay up to £500/£1000/£2000 etc. Make sure there's no other limitations to the policy.

Ask about their labour rate per hour maximum. I maybe wrong but I think you may find its quite a bit lower than a franchise dealer labour rate and you would have to make up the difference in the hourly rate.

Having said that my dad has his air con replaced no problem jjust had to pay the extra in labour costs.

It was a while ago so things maybe different now but worth checking.
