Question

Hi all

My friend has now got nitrous fitted on what was an underpowered elise and it now has the power that the looks and chassis deserve He is only using 50 bhp jets but his car is stage 2 tuned and was supposed to be putting out 160bhp before nitrous The car has amazing power and pull now and I was very inpressed when I test drove it last week It never seems to run out of steam like it did before and should now be an effective weapon until the bottle runs out which I guess will last a day the way he uses it

He says that no-one else has done this to an elise before Is this true?

One button is the horn and one is the NOS button The NOS one isn't wired yet and he is using the standard switch at the moment. The engine has been tuned and has superchip, different cams, larger throttle body, decat, race exhaust, induction kit and 50bhp jets of NOS giving a theoretical power of 210bhp

Cupramax

Yep

Veracocha

It is a bit

Bang.

Dave Andrews who is a respected k series tuner doesn't believe the k can handle the extra stresses added by NOS without a lot of reinforcement work. If you do all that work, you may as well have the power full time.

He may get away with it, but I'd be very warey. If he searches the technical elise forum on british cars BBS (may have to register to search), he can dig up the post which explains why NOS will probably kill his engine.

p.s. The superchip is not thought well of for the Elise. If anything it loses power so he might want to consider removing it. More on this on the technical forum on the previously mentioned board.

p.p.s. Seloc = www.seloc.org lotus group

Dan

Found out that this thread has linked to Seloc (registered now ) and british-cars and is starting to cause a stir

His car is fairly high milage as far as elises go but he is going for a re-build soon anyway (this happen sooner than he thought from what I am starting to hear ) he want's a flowed head and big valves too I think he should get driver training instead

Oh and I forgot to say the superchip is now unplugged and thrown in the boot apparently it keeps overheating anyway and I have heard they restrict power on dyno tests

PaulPalmer,

a friend mentioned your name at Castle Combe over the weekend.
They are into the VAG scene.

One is called Gavin...on his Second Yella Ibiza Cupra after wrapping first one round tree. His mate (owns Mk2 Golf now with Brembo's) can never remember his name was also there.

You know them????

Thanks Paul
But from what i seen of the K series your being a bit silly. They are known to be a weak motor. Why not transplant a Honda Civic motor?

Cheers
