Talking

Its a jap import Shogun thingy.

1992 J reg with 50K on the clock, been serviced regularly since he imported it 3 years ago - all belts etc.
Petrol 3000 V6 LWB Super Exceed (all ecectrics, heated seats, climate etc)
Its that 2 tone champagne/green colour that nearly all imports seem to be. Its also got some nice touches - privacy glass, chrome bull bar, fogs, tasteful aftermarket alloys, decent ice etc

Well looked after, good example.

Any ideas?

What do you think? in terms of trade-in or private sale.

Many thanks

Justin

back in your pen, CC

I'm not selling, my dad is - he's done his 4x4 thing and now wants an Audi A8 or a beemer or Jag.

I've looked on autotrader but it seems the 3 litre V6 is a very rare beast indeed, its full of 2.5 TDs with the same spec going for £7k at a dealers.

Forgot to say this thing of his has so may toys, adjustable suspension, loads of transmission options, the works. Its a nice place to be, even if the dash is mid 80's All he does is pop to the office and back, then tours France in it once a year with my mum and some friends - its great for that, even the people in the back get a good view of the scenary.

Anyway, 3 years of touring France and thats his lot, doing other things next year, my mums got herself a RAV4 so its time for him to chop it in for an uber saloon

not harsh, but the gods honest

The only thing which could hinder a sale is .....it's Petrol and reflect on price.

I have a J reg 2.5 diesel turbo swb Pajero with all extras on and I only paid 5k for it 6 weeks ago with 39k on the clock.

That seems a good deal, I would have thought a LWB would fetch a slightly higher price. I'm thinking 6k private, 5k5 trade in?

Look on autotrader I just did, most are about £5k or below, one was £6k. So expect £4k trade-in tops, more likely £3-3.5k, as dealers usually like to leave a lot of money to cover any repairs for 4wds

I'd agree with reffro, and don't be surprised if you get offered less than 3k on trade in value from some places, especially non import specialists. I'd really try and avoid px-ing and go for a private sale if I were you, had a mate who had a similar Pajero a while back and was really offered some low prices when he tried px-ing. The traders really milk the fact that its an import and have all the reasons under the sun why its worth peanuts "don't know where its been" "can't sell imports" "probably nicked" etc etc. Its funny how "they are all made under the same roof" when it comes to selling you one though.

I put a deposit on one yesterday , LWB super Exceed 2.5 TDi, electric heated seats, twin air con , sun roof , adjustable suspension , electric fold in mirrors , aftermarket split rims , the list goes on ...... Got a great price , £6500.00 on a K plate froma dealer .

Don't be surprised at low prices from dealers as has been said already.

MattN......... do you have the details of the place near you please!

Been looking at buying the 2.5TD SWB as a tow car, but having problems getting hold of 3dr manual versions.

Can anyone suggest dealers etc. in the south that are worth checking out? I've had no luck with Auto Trader up to now!

John,

Try Southern Counties 4x4.

Give them a call and have a chat .... Were very helpful with me.

Nate.

Edited to add ..... Manuals are difficult to get hold of , like the proverbial rocking horse ****

Manuals extremly rare in japan,

Ever thought why you dont get pajeros from japan with towbars fitted?

ans They just don't tow things out there, if you are towing something heavy don't use the 2.5 auto box its not man enough.

check for gearbox oilcooler

My other half has a 2.4 diesel turbo Toyota Surf Automatic and has no problem towing his track car [about 1300kg] plus trailer weight. So can't see why you should encounter probs with a 2.5 turbo diesel auto!

Go to the Pajero Owners Club web site. They are a very friendly and helpful bunch. Been very useful to me with my 93 Exceed 2.5 Diesel.

Is it an apocryphal (spelling?) story that in Spanish Pajero means w**nker?

Slighly off topic but it sounded too good to be true?
