I suppose it has a lot to answer for -

Anyway, im off to watch top gear now.

Great fantastic car - yes.
Did miracles for rallying - yes.
Inspired some great road cars - yes.
Greatest car ever - No chance. Not in the same league as the Landy or DS in how it influenced the world and nearly ALL cars, not just a limited set of performance cars. The Landy, DS, 500 mobilised generations and affected so many. (Would audi have thought to develop 4WD if LD or Jeep hadn't invented 4WD on cars in the first place?)
Oh, just my opinion etc. blah blah blah but I'm right!

I agree with Drac, although I have to say that the Mini should have been there instead of the Fiat 500 due to the fact that all modern small cars are built to the same formula i.e. transverse mount, front wheel drive whereas the Fiat's impact on future car design was pretty limited.

Didn't realise they only sold 11,000 of them!
Lurrrved the footage showing LeSaux in the Quattro Sport hammering round the country lanes - how many people realised that was the ultra-rare short wheelbase version they were watching...?

My mind is made up now...
Crap review of the quattro, which just seemed to suggest without the quattro we wouldn't have had the other other rally reps - not really a big impact on motoring as a whole!
I'm voting for the DS!

Surely the quattro was inspired by stuff like the Land Rover (4WD etc.)
Land Rover for me - it has to be the vehicle thats had the biggest impact on life all over the world, and still going strong x years later.

Its a pointless list of cars that are too diverse to make any sense of the title "worlds greatest car".......how can you make any case for something like a Mcclaren F1 as opposed a black cab......pure drivel.
Whats needed is something that does 250mph, 0-60 in 2 seconds, seats six in comfort and can go across country with ease..........................an elephant with a rocket up its ars£ !!

Audi did a 'land rover' type vehilce too - not sure when they start production, or when they stopped, but was WAY (20 years) before the 'quattro' - look up "auto union mungu" - found this one on ebay a bit back for some pics... be interesting to find out which came first, the landy or the munga
