hi guys i would like to hear any stories you have of your scoobys v cossies i know you prob hate cossie drivers but ive had my cossie 6 months and no scooby drivers have even tryed to have a go i get behind them but they never wanna play even evos u guys scared or what? any movies of cossies and scoobys on the strip?

i have a 276bhp wrx with a few engine mods
i know a lad with a 320bhp ish bhp 2wd cossie
down the strip i was 0.01 secs faster then him
on the road he was pulling away from me over 100
happy?
or did u just want to cuase sum kind of gay argument?
my other mate with a 330 bhp 4wd sapphire gets slaughterd big style

there were some rather nice RS500 heavily modded cosworths at Bassingbourne track day on saturday... holding up everyone. I'm sure they were fast in a straight line but they seemed to be fairly undriveable round the track.
even in my wrx wagon I was catching them all the time! ok, it has PPP, better brakes n tyres than standard...
as they say, its horses for courses.

i know you prob hate cossie drivers
, and I don't hate cossie drivers because I've been an owner of 2wd and 4wd and they are great.approx 280bhp, my wrx is faster up to about a ton I reckon, regardless 2 or 4wd cos. After that nothing in it. My 4wd with stage 1 was a motorway stormer above 100mph.

I've had both.
Swapped my 350bhp Saff for my Uk my98 wagon.
When i first got the scoob i was dissapointed, probably cos i was expecting the same kick in the back that i got with the cossie.
But now i'm used to it, i really like it, so much more fun to drive than the coss.
When you went for a full on run in the coss, you came out the other end sweating, in the scoob it's almost effortless.
My scoob is standard, so i cant imagine what some of the modded ones are like, but from my own experiances, the scoob (even standard) would be giving the cossie a real hard time on the track, and some decent a/b roads.

hmmm at the end of the day it's a fast(heavy) Sierra the Escorts are a different animal anything with 500+bhp when madly tuned is gonna be a hand full, But before I start a bitchin contest this all boils down to individual drivers... people drive at different paces ie what is ludicrously quick for my old man is normal driving for me, my brother had a tuned 4X4 Saphie he used to kill ferrari's in it but hey put micheal shumacher behind the wheel of the ferrari???? get it on a track m8 a try pushing a scooby round a corner!!

I was beaten easily by my friends 2WD cosworth at the 'ring. He just pulled away from me until it started to rain. Then it was the usual story in the wet. If he'd had the 4WD running the same power I would have been history though.
My car is a standard classic wagon, his an almost standard 2WD Cossie.

cossies seem to have this reputation that they all have serious bhp (ie over 400bhp for example). do they?
how much does it cost to get a cossie to 400bhp or more?
the only reason i ask is sometimes im puzzled by the attraction of these cars. i myself have always had a soft spot for sapphire cosworths (never been in one though, just like the way they look), however, they seem to have an horrendous reputation for reliability. cosworths do seem to hold their price very well though.
so why spend evo money on an escort cosworth for example? an evo can be modded to high bhp figures and still be reliable.so whats the attraction still with cosworths?

true nacro, but so are a lot of other cars. why do cosworths still hold an attraction. for example, if high bhp is the main attraction, why not go for an r32 skyline? or if you wanted a fast four door saloon, why not an evo? i know its horses for courses, but arent cossies getting on a bit? the money they cost could buy a more modern japanese car, that can be heavily modded, and arguably prove more reliable.

I'm own a 2wd cossie, and can quite see a lot of the points that people are getting at.
However, I think you'll find that a lot of cossie owners like to work on their own cars, and to some degree, it's old school tuning methods that apply. With the scoobs/evos/skylines/gtirs of this world, it's just not the same - you can't get your hands dirty in the same way.
However, why people assume that 2wd cossies don't handle is beyond me........ Sure, out the box they don't, as it's standard sierra rear beam with the 7.5" diff, but with suspension mods, and geometry correction, they can be made to round corners very nicely - with enough money, although surprisingly less than you'd think, touring car set ups are available.
Having said all that, my mate was out on track with me in a Makkinen edition EVO this weekend at Croft, and the amount of corner speed he could carry over me was staggering.
At the end of the day, 2wd saffs can be bought for less than 3k, and can be sorted with APs, coilovers, and 400bhp for about another 5-6k. That's cheap, very fast motoring........

I've had 2 cossies and 2 imprezas...
the impreza was the best overall package i.e. better built, more solid feel, more reliable, got more compliments (although the cossies were certainly liked)....
...but why oh why do i still want a 2wd cossie
?
What i really miss about my old saf was the FUN factor. Although the scoobs were A1, they just didnt have the x factor of the old saf..or may be it's just me trying to relive my yoof

theres obviously still a big market for cosworths judging by the views here, so why are ford missing out on this?
if the x-type jag is basically a mondeo, why cant they give a mondeo AWD and stick an updated cosworth engine in it, thereby creating a modern day sapphire cosworth
surely they'd sell bucketloads? can it REALLY be that hard or expensive to do?

Ford will not do this as the "cosworth" branding tarnishes the new ford image.. there is a very limited market for performance fords - why do you think they limited production of the Focus RS and compromised it with FWD ... ?
FYI an orginal MK2 RS2000 is worth more than any Sierra Cosworth bar an original RS500.
BTW - I have had a 350bhp 2wd cossie ...

but wouldnt a 'mondeo cosworth' create a halo affect for the rest of the range? every other manufacturer, particularly the germans at the moment, seem to be making a bonkers version of their model range (rs6 from audi for example).
personally, i think the cosworth name would have people going into their showrooms, not the other way round.

Why Ford can never reproduce the Cosworth range as they did is all down to the emissions, thats why the Esc Cos wasnt built after 1996 when new law came in.
WWSD the prices of the Esc Cos's are valued higher in some respects to the RS500's.
I learnt something on Sunday from a 'guru' on Esc Cos's which shocked me. Apparently out of 7k mauufactured - there are only 800 left - registered with DVLA. So now a 'good' one will be harder to source, the prices could well rise and defo won't drop.
Guideline prices for Esc Cos's are
Large turbo - 10 to 20k
Small Turbo - 13 to 20k
For RS500's - 12 to 20k

Always wanted a Cosworth myself, but just don't like the interiors of them (well, more specifically, the dash - the Recaro's are sweet ) I have seen ones for good money, but have just never brought myself to buy one. An Escort Cos would be a dream, but like folk have said, prices just aren't dropping enough for me to get one.

What ARE you talking about?! They made the ONLY Formula One engines for about thirty years! The sort of V10 so-boring-nobody-bothers-watching-anymore **** they have to make for today's Playstation Generation "F1" circus bear no resemblance whatsoever to their roadgoing counterparts.

I think we can all agree a standard esc cos with 220bhp is nothing special in todays world and its only when you mod them they come to life.
Trouble is the big money for cossies seem to go on the standard versions. So it is "standard" and or has it been "returned to standard" for sale.?

Also, can you honestly say that a Standard 215bhp UK Turbo is something "special" in today world??
I cant even think of how many Scoobies I see on the roads on a daily basis whereas I havent seen an Escort Cossie for about 2 months...
I do agree however, that performance wise there are cars that can match an Escort Cossie, but I dont think that many look as good!!

I looked at one 8 months ago to buy..
Was up for around 5k, never been bumped majorly (if it had then very very good repair)..
Wanted some minor body work doing.. all over.. looked like super market sh1te and been keyed..
wasnt happy that I missed it as my lift was late
Parkers for a K plate cossie.. not lux or motorsport.. unspecified mileage..
