Alfa on TopGear

OMG!!!! That car was Sexy as ****. It may not be as fast as its rivals and it may handle like a bag of spuds, but it had got to be the sexiest car I have seen in a long while. Never really been a fan of Alfa’s but the body, interior and even the engine bay are just a work of art. That V6 sounds like an absolute beast, if only Alfa had spent some time thinking how they would get that 250bhp on the tarmac.

Consider yourself corrected The white bits are cloth.
I personally think the Octy vRS has a great interior - tasteful and understated, which is what I said originally. The Alfa (IMHO) didn't look as nice inside as the R32 does.

There was a post on here a wee while ago, where someone who had contacts @ Alfa, or had read an article on it was saying that they are going to try and make the 147GTA 4WD so that should help!!
I agree looked and sounded pretty sweet, although I'd still go for a Focus RS over it, but thats my biased choice!!
Cheers,
Grant

As a Focus RS owner and a, generalised, Alfa hater - I have to say the I actually think the 147 GTA looks quite nice inside and out.
A friend used to work at a Fiat/Alfa dealer (Desira) and kept telling me how unreliable they were (as if I needed telling) but to be fair, the latest Fiat cars are actually proving to be quite reliable and so it's perhaps a little unfair for JC to automatically assume it will fall to bits. I know someone who has a deposit down on the 147, so maybe I'll be able to find out from a genuine owner in 6-12 months time.
The R32 and GTA both sound great - arguably much nicer than the Focus RS. I like V6 engines, even though I would probably still choose a turbo'd engine 9 times out of 10.

Hate to be the voice of dissent, but I thought it looked pretty awful. I'm not a big fan of Alfas at the best of times, but what possessed them to put a 250 BHP V6 jobbie in a front wheel drive car, I'll never know. I can imagine the traction control shuddering the car to pieces within 6 months of buying it.
The "fabulous interior" was, well, gaudy. Personally, I like a tasteful, understated interior.
Of the three, I'd definately go for the Golf R32, although I can think of better ways of spending 23 grand.

Jonto, would that be the cream leather that is actually black leather?
I think you will find that some of the RS's came with cream interior !

Depends what your definition of classy is. If you mean loads of brushed aluminium and leather everywhere then I guess it isn't classy (and I'm glad it isn't, because I would have paid a lot more than 14 grand brand new!) It is tasteful though.
Anyway, off to bed with me. G'night

Heres a reminder -
Test drove one a while back. 156GTA is well tame in comparison.
This thing goes like hell. Hard to know how it compares to Scooby.
Missus has one on order. Should be with us very soon.
Cheers

i heard rumours it has traction control that can not be put off
than put it in the thrash can or sell it to posers
Focus RS is much more a FWD drivers car in my opinion or go different Civic type R. only abs no driver helps on it.
that s more like it.

I always wanted a V6 alpha - just glad I didn't get one know..

You can't beat a sweet grumbly V6 roar
I nearly bought a 155 v6 Before I settled on the scoob. Sometimes I still wonder if I should have (they were half the price second hand). But then I think of it falling to bits
I would be sorely tempted by the 147. Just by the looks and noise. But I doubt the reliability has'nt improved much
