Question

Hi Guys,

Looking into getting an Elise at the mo and as usual wanna do my homework first. I've found a reasonable forum on Pistonheads and british-cars.co.uk but is there a half decent elise/lotus forum somewhere with more than 5 hits a day!?

Cheers,

Tony

Hi Tony.

Not really sure of any, but on the Scottish Elises site, there's loads of info.
Also a link to a Yahoo group from there. May be helpfull.

Another vote for SELOC, there are a lot of experienced elise owners there.

BBS is good as well (technical section) but general forum tend to cover many diverse subjects + lots of trolls.

Thanks guys, I'll take a look at SELOC.

I was under the impression though you had to already be a lotus owner to sign up but I'll give it a try anyway.

Cheers,

Tony

http://www.british-cars.co.uk is not too bad. The technical section is very useful. You need to register (free) to search for more than 2 weeks of archives.

Cool

Tony

No you don't have to be an owner for SELOC

Let me know if you want simple advice (if its compicated advice best ask someone else !!)as I used to own one and might be able to help.

Cheers

Cheers Neil.

Well, I'm actually hoping to get a test drive tomorrow @ my local dealership. Been looking at getting something fun and reasonably affordable. I suppose biggest worry is day to day use but I've read many reports of people doing massive commutes and loving it. Do they actually feel as fast as the they both on paper and in the flesh? Also I want to get hold of some in gear times as a comparison (I currently drive a 16v Cupra Sport).

Cheers,

Tony

Tony

I can really only speak to the S1, I have driven a S2 but only on a trackday.

I would have to say it would not be my choice of car for everyday use, I think you need to be committed to want to drive one day in day out through summer and winter. As a second car for fine days and blats when you want then great.

As for sensation of speed I don’t think its that great, but I would say it always felt special to drive in some way, can’t really say why but it just did. Its not the quickest thing on the road (depite what some say) but its quick enough to enjoy.

Any idea which one you’re going for ?? as different models have different characteristics that suit different types of motoring (e.g. close ratio box on S1 111 might be a pain if your daily commute is all motorway)

For more info try looking at these sites. You might find some of the performance data in one of them.
