with the turbos 90-late 93 is 220bhp, 0-60 in 5.7, 155mph.
late 93 on (round rear lights) are 241bhp, 0-60 in 5.3, 162mph.
1/4 mile times are 14.6 and 13.8.

2 models gt and gts. gt has electric everything inc folding mirrors, steerable fogs, abs, lsd, electric aerial, c/l, e/w, pas,
half leather seats, air con

gts has recaro seats and most of the above stuff. so may be lacking folding mirrors and steerable fogs but that's about it.

gt and gts have the same power etc only difference is the standard equipment. t bars heavier and not as rigid as solid roofs.

http://www.btinternet.com/~netsurf/mr2t/mr2tfaq.html try this site, it has the best buyers guide and lots of info.

I have a rev. 2 (dec '92) GTS for sale, with folding mirrors and steerable fogs. If your interested e-mail me at dave1981uk@yahoo.com . It's in the north of scotland though. BTW pre '94 cars are 205bhp and don't buy a pre- rev.2, they are no where near as nice.

pre 94 mr2s aren't 205bhp, it's pre 94 celicas that are.

and why are pre rev 2 ones no where near as nice? the differences are they have 14s (easily changed), slightly different brakes, slightly different suspension and the side strips don't have the tacky looking hint body of colour. in many peoples opinion the rev1 is the drivers car and the later ones have the tamed down handling for the less talented drivers.

interiors are identical as is equipment. a rev 3 onwards has a shorter gearshift and that is pretty much the only difference inside between a rev1 and and rev5.

no offence but didn't you say yours suffered from a lot of lag and you could press the accelerator down and lift it off before it responded, and the back end used to lose it all the time? cos if so yours doesn't sound like a particularly good example as lag is virtually non existant, throttle response is instant and the back is only easy to lose if pushing too hard in the wet.

Question

I drove a few, and fraid it's the same story. Unresposive and laggy(have you seen the size of the turbo??). Celica too, which is the same engine. BTW 205BHP, 175atw. Sit in a rev1 then a rev2 and see if you don't know see the difference. Some idiot did put 195's on my back wheels though so i will admit that doesn't help!

the mr2 is 220bhp not 205 bhp, the celica may have the same engine but they do not have the same power. again the post 94 models have different power.

the turbo is twin entry and boosts below 2k rpm, full boost at 2.6k rpm. i've been in an impreza when my mates dad had one as a loan car and that had lots more lag than mine.

i've been in a few rev 3 turbos and one rev 2 turbo and to be honest there is no difference between rev 1 and 2 except the brakes, and rev 3s only hold boost higher

Afraid screech is right, and I hate it when he is... rev 1 + 2 were 220, rev 3 + were 241, and the yank versions were toned down versions with 200 bhp...steer clear these ones! lag?? All turbo cars have some degree of lag, but it spools up pretty quick, and unresponsive?? Not sure which ones you've been driving but they all sound like lemons! mine and screechs cars are both running 18 psi, with no problems, and they run a dream! Plonk foot down in 5th at 80 and the needle just whizzes up quuick as a flash.... great stuff! VERY underestimated!

Red face

LOL 'I've been in an impreza'
I own 1 of each, the MR2 is certainly not a lemon (took me ages to find it out of 6-7), and it certainly is unresponsive, i suppose i may be confusing throttle response with lag a little but after owning MR2 for 2years and impreza for 1year (16k) i reckon i'm in a good position to pick the faults. I love the balance but if the car didn't drive like it does i wouldn't even own the impreza. As for the power.... you may be right but i would think 175ATW would be slightly less than 220 at the Fly wheel.
