EVO V or VI and how do Mitsubishi UK treat imports?
#1
Thinking of getting one of these cars later this year and was wondering if there is a good reason why I should a spend a grand or two more and get a VI over a V (apart from lower mileage) as they seem very similar in the flesh and on paper? On another note, do all Mitsubishi UK dealers service imports and honour factory recalls like replacing faulty AYC ECU's etc even if your car is not a Ralliart supplied 'UK' model?
Thanks for any help.

If you're buying a second-hand Evo from a Mitsubishi dealer, you'll either have the balance of the original warranty, or you'll get a Mitsubishi Red Zebra warranty on the car. Either way, it's fully covered whether it's an official UK car or an import.
If you import a car yourself, or if you buy one outwith the dealer network, you need to understand what the warranty gives you - but this isn't any different to buying ANY make of car outwith the dealer network.
Mitsubishi UK will happily service your car, wherever you sourced it, to the manufacturer's current specs and do have all the info available for parts, etc., so you never get left out in the cold like International Motors do to Subaru import owners. It was their attitude that drove me to the dark side after having had six Subarus over eighteen years. Can't see me back in another Subaru until they change their attitude. Pity really

No problem with servicing my 5
My local dealer is a Ralliart specialist & in general are very good
With regard to recalls - again yes, my dealer was happy to check the car for the lamba problem & the AYC problem - both of which my car was not in the affected chassis range. Had it have been they would have happily worked on the car they said
In all honesty - compared to the two impreza's I owned before the Evo where the dealers were absolutely crap at customer service, & the whole experience the Mitsubushi dealers are sooooo much better
Subaru dealers - if you are reading this - maybe it would be an idea to take a leaf out of Mitsubushi's book on general customer service & the warranty side of things. Oh & then dont "shout" at customers who have imports as the wont come back to you and buy a P1 - they will go elsewhere like i did
Differences between the 5 & 6 are faily minor - there are the obvious cosmetic differences you can see.
There are some minor engine changes IIRC different piston design, revised ecu, slightly different rods?
Tourque on the 6 is slightly higher than the 5 but then the 5 weighs slightly less.
If you are choosing a GSR i believe in standard the 5 is quicker (slightly) than the 6.
I had the choice of a 5 or 6 & chose a 5 partly becuase I REALLY wanted a yellow one, & I prefer the looks of the 5 to the six.
The added benefit is its slightly cheaper too
