rare uk cars?
#1
Hi the chosen one,
Mclaren have aways been very discrete about who their customers were/are so probably only they (and probably the DVLA) know how many were sold in UK.
However 100 McLaren F1s were built. Out of the 100 cars, 64 were F1 road cars; five were F1 LM versions (built to commemorate victory at LeMans in 1995); three were F1 GTs and the remaining 28 were F1 GTR cars built for competing in the FIA GT racing championship and Le Mans 24 Hours. The racing cars were in fact less sophisticated than the road cars as they did not have the fans to provide 'active' downforce as this was not legal for racing.
Spent a fantastic day watching Derek Bell drive (amongst 9 other cars) Ron Dennis's own car round Bedford Autodrome and it sounded fantastic. Was supposed to get a ride in it though sadly didn't due to an inconsiderate Ferrari owner.
Regards
Robin

The chosen one, you are not very chosen. Not a week goes by when i dont see one of those cars. I see about 5 lambos a week and 100 Rarris. The NSX type r might be the only one i have not seen.
Then again, if you don't live in london then you would not see them.
The EB110 is the only car i have not seen on the road. I have even seen 3 soft top 550's

I've got a car in the garage that none of you will even know what it is, let alone seen one, there are only two in this country, and the other one has been butchered to fit a bigger engine,
What is it, 1953, Ford Comete, built by Facel Metalon, which later became facel vega, and before someone says it must be worth a mint, it ain't!
