I was coming home after helping a mate re-build a boat trailer, felt a big pot hole, thought FU** stopped, went round my quat and found the back nearside with two deep gashes in the tyre. very very pi**ed off, because of the tyres 215/50/15 I can't get any until Thursday !!!!!! I'm going to have to hire a car for my work, the space saver (2CV wheel as i call it) is the only spare as I cant find a UR wheel. Has anybody ever managed to get money for the damage caused by pot holes? I'm going to be out about £150 for car hire and £150 for the tyre (you try to find one cheaper!!), have got photos of the pothole (with a ruler next to it) and pick of my tyre, witness statements (mate in car) Etc.

Councils now have insurance for this, so you should be able to get the money relatively easily, especially if you've taken pictures of the pothole AND it's location/surroundings.
