what to buy for 8 grand other than a Scooby
#1
I'm having to get rid of my Scooby and have been looking at the choices below.
Renault Laguna 2.0 RXE
Vauxhall Vectra 2.5 GSi
Audi A4 1.8 SE
Chrysler Neon RT
Do you have any experience of any of them ?
Which one do you think is the better choice, or and can you recommend any alternatives ?
Basically I'm looking for a 4 door car with a relatively good spec. Performance is not a necessity but if it's there all the better. It needs to be at least an 'S' reg and cost less than £8000
Cheers

Mondeo 2.5 V6 Ghia X, great car 170bhp duratec V6 and every toy, cd, quickclear winscreen, climate control, fuel computer, heated wing mirrors, heated washer jets, heated leather seats, traction control, alloys etc etc etc. 2.0 Focus ghia is a good motor as well. The mondys are a good price as well and you may get a late reg for 8K maybe a 2000 model.

Mate of mine got a Volvo V40 T4 for £7k a few weeks back.
Good car for the money. S reg 60,000 miles. Loadsa toys and quite fast. Don't buy a ford or vauxhall with your own money. German or Jap stuff is much better in the long run.

Go for the Mondy V6 if you are keeping the car for a fair while as depreciation wont really affect you...
My mum has got an Audi A4 1.8 SE, it isnt that fast on accelaration, but cruises along nicely on the motorway at 80-90 and returns a fair economy, although I think that the 1.8 Turbo returns slightly better MPG as you dont have to work the car hard to get anywhere. The 1.8 20v sounds nice, its got a gravelly rumble sound from the exhaust but doesnt develop peak torque until nearly 4000rpm so does need worked hard(ish) to make fast progress... Servicing is also reasonably priced too, even at the main dealer, although should it need any major work it will cost £££'s; just make sure you buy one with Full Audi Service History and you should be alright...
Hope this helps, if you need to know anything else or have any other questions then pm or mail me on farnanson_2k@hotmail.com...

We've got the Audi aswell as the Scoob and love it. Build quality is superb, the drive is wonderfully smooth and the gearbox is the best I've ever had. Its a classy motor, and with the SE you get plenty of toys too, but make sure you get one with the sports pack suspension, we had to fit an aftermarket kit to ours, as the standard suspension was too soft and wishy washy (technical term there)
