I managed to lose the keys to my lovely Ford Escort (1987)

My uncle wants to buy it off me and has a spare set of locks/ keys. Thing is, we can't get the old barrel out. You need to turn the key in the barrel a 1/4 turn to depress a small button on the top which I think will allow us to remove it. Thing is, we can't do that with the old one as I have lost the key

I don't want to give some dude £150 for a job that'll take about 30 secs. Can anyone help??

Thanks

take all the column shrouds off and column stalk switches and the ignition switch.....then under the dash you will see 2 13mm spanner size nuts....undo these and the column will become loose and you will be able to pull it down and get to the little button on to with a drill or hammer and punch. They are not easy to do though.
