95/96 is still the old model (E34), & that 525i engine has an iron block, which means no engine problems. Engine problems only surface when the Aluminium blocks, coated with Nikasil, are run on high Sulphur petrol. Nikasil & low Sulphur petrol is ok.
BMW later changed the bore coating with Alusil, which eliminated the problem completely.
