Ive seen a few good power runs from some of these running 250bhp how do they compare to the scoobys power to weight etc

I know a 200bhp erst is equivalent to a 300bhp cozzie p/w so wot about the scoobys?

Just interested like

LOL - you know there are scoobs doing 10sec 1/4s and one on here doing 11s in the UK?

As well as the ones that went over 160 @ TOTB last year. Believe me I do like the RSs but do wonder whos is faster than that....

Jamie goings S2 did a 160 mph run and is now the record holder for the rst top speed.

Aint got a clue bout 1/4 mile times tho as the rst seems pretty poo at these.

Not bad for an 15 odd yr old car on 80's tech with a little engine.

I love Scooby’s and 99 times out of 100 the scoob would murder the RST but never say never there’s always someone out there willing to spend bucket loads on mods. Take a look at this CLICK ME taken from www.drivetoish.co.uk, fare enough this guy may have spent £K’s on his RST but it still beats the Evo. Im not slaging the scoob because its one of my favourite cars but never say never.

My old S1 RST torque steared all over the road with the standard 130bhp. I'd dread to think what a 250bhp one drives like!

MY S1 had over 200bhp and didnt torque steer, did it slightly on a sweeping bend.

It would understeer on a roundabout if you accelerated hard.

Cryptwalk, the rst in the vid is one of the lads from the RSbb, his car is timed at one of the fastest over the 1.25 mile distance they time at brunters..Apparently he stopped to talk to the evo driver who said he was trying and his car was putting out 350bhp...this is from what i have heard in the conversations on the rs and lancer bb so dont shoot me for giving the information....

And the evos driving is pretty bad considering he has 20 yrs advance tech over the escort and nearly has an off a few times due to his breaking and accelerating on the bend.

I have a RST and it is fast and will supprise alot of cars on the road and a few bikes...

I like the evo and scoob and both are quick cars...but by no means invincible when you take in to account the 4 wheeel drive and weight of them compared to the rst and smaller hot hatch cars.

Just my views

What do I think of modded 1.6cvh rs turbos??

BAG of ****

What do I think to them with Zetec Mods??

Nice..

As for them beating us at ten of the best.. pah.

The only ones we are worried about are evo's, supra's and Skylines.. oh and maybe gti-r's

(I stand to be corrected!)

Basically anything that can be in the 200+ club standard

RS turbo cant

That evo driver cant drive.. I cant have sound on at work.. but it took the escort a long time to catch it.. and in my book I would have put a lot more distance on the escort using the roundabout..

No offence intended!

In a straight line though the escort killed him

He caught the EVos run and went straight past him.

That escort has a 2.1 ZVH engine and puts out about 250bhp. Its had 0-100s timed at about 12seconds i believe. With it being FWD that is very quick and the low Tranmission losses will help no end at high speeds once traction is no longer an issue.

David Wallis,

You were right, you are going to be corrected.....I think you may be worried by a couple of the cossie's also. In particular a certain Mr Hadlands car with nearly 580bhp (can't remember exact figure) & 490lb/ft of torque.

Surely any car that someone takes pride in is a good car. A good friend of mine has an Orion that is putting out 200bhp on a 1.6 turbo engine, the car is mad and great fun for catching people out who think that they will be able to dismiss it immediately.
This thread is like all the other “which car is best threads”. Eventually it will boil down to realising that it’s not just the car but the combination of car, driver and where they are driving. Whether it be drag racing or some twisty stuff.
I drive a modified R32 GTR, this car is very capable under many circumstances. However a well-driven FRST is quite capable of beating it under the right conditions

Ian2wdsaffcos

hmm no.. not that power level.. that doesnt bother me...

<--- This power figure is rather low for my new engine..

Im more bothered about Martins gearbox...

Martin should also be worried about project x.

I am.

Cool

Who the hell is that muppet doing the commentry? I dont think that beat the evo in all fairness, good vid though shows the evos cornering ability well. I think the evo driver let off tbh as acording to the muppet comentator the speeds were getting rarther silly and I know evos can go over that stated speed in the vid.

I wassent shooting anyone, I dont see anything in my post to give you the impression that I would. I am a member of the lancer register and I dont recognise the car. I dont think the Evo was driven particually well, the fact is that an Evo will out corner any well sorted Rs Turbo. It's very hard to tell from the vid if he was giving it his all, if he was then fair play to him, I myself have had a little play with a well sorted Rs Turbo and was suprised how well he did.

And the evos driving is pretty bad considering he has 20 yrs advance tech over the escort and nearly has an off a few times due to his breaking and accelerating on the bend.
As I said, prolly down to driver rarther than the car.

Sorry to bring this thread back to the top but I think it needs making clear that the EVO is an EVO VI RS which is limited to 125mph by the gearing. He was probably at that speed half way down the slip road and it took quite a while for the RS to catch and pass it....not as impressive as the RS gang would have you believe

Oh, and a link to the vid in question here

I used to go head to head with few S1 and S2s in my mk5 XR3, some modded, some not.

It usually was even stevens. I always got off the line first before they'd catch up, as they'd be sat there waiting for boost or sat spinning the wheels...even though I was the one without the LSD

what a load of codge ,that evo driver might think hes a good driver but the 4wd off that island should have seen him leave the old ford in its wake ,the ford looked like he was on the power first even though he was a good way back,i dont think evo driver knew the roads.got to admit the essex metal is faster in a straight line ,assuming the evo driver hadnt lifted .I think lots of drivers lift once they get to a certain speed, because common sense takes over .
Lets face it though ,no one would take a ford escort over an evo.
I wonder what model evo it was ,id like to see a re run with an fq 400.

A mate had one with slighty more power than standard and felt quite quick, but it did feel like it was about to fall to bits
