Question

With £10k you can buy a MY98-99 scooby Turbo. With the same amount of money what can you buy with just as much fun and even newer? hopfully cheaper insurance.
I can only think of Cooper S, Seat Leon Turbo and the MG ZR.

You can buy my '02 02 reg Ibiza TDi Sport with 184bhp & 306lb/ft for £9,999 - it's quicker than a Leon Cupra and group 7 to insure.

Can you get a Cooper S for £10k?

Clio 172's are around £10k if they are at all used. Do supermarkets do brand new Cups for that yet?

MX5's are cheap to insure and run and are fun, if not exactly fast. IIRC £10k will buy one at least as new as a MY99 Scoob.

Not quite new enough, but the first Elise's are now £10k.

Late Pug 306 GTi-6.

Early MR2 Roadster imports on a V-plate.

There must be more but that's a good start for 5am

RB5, you won't get a standard Cooper for 10k at the moment, never mind a CooperS

Do what I did and get a boring mk4 golf 1.8 turbo. Surprisingly nice though!

No, I thought not. Ray_Li reckoned it was within budget and I was questioning that.

Get a Twin-Turbo Supra Mk4 automatic with some mods and the insurance is CHEAPER than the scoob. No need to mention how fun this will be

that Maserati sounds a laugh - but mind blowing running costs as well as performance he should also mention!
