Question

Hi chaps

At the moment have 1 scoob, full NCB. Soon to get cheap runaround, add to existing policy until it runs out in July (they'll give me 3 years NCB on the runaround as well as full NCB on the scoob). Then sell the scoob and get the caterfield.

can you have 2 seperate policys with 2 insurance companies?

Does Full NCB really have any differece on a limited mile kit car?

Is it best to go to 1 company that will do a quote for both?

What do you guys do?

What companies like kit cars?

Thanks

Justin

I use liverpool victoria for both my cars. I get a discount for insuring the second car with then so it actually works out that the micra costs me more to insure than the 200sx. They don't mind mods or imports so i they might be worth trying for a kit.

Jay,

I do the same for an Elise and found it cheaper to find a company that did a limited mileage policy that included trackday cover. Such a policy does not use NCB so it didn't matter that it was a second car. Might be the best way if trackdays are going to be your thing. The company was Esteem.

Cheers,

Andy

Go to the caterham website www.caterham.co.uk and follow the link through to insurance. They use Eggar Lawson IIRC and I rang em for a quote. Very good prices and they don't 'use' any of your no claims, so it's free for a second/main car. Quotes are based on BHP on sevens and they were pretty darn good..they do look for experience of performance cars though.
Otherwise Bell Direct offer to give you full no claims on a second car..but that second quote usually isn't too competitive.

I use LV already and also Eggar Lawson for track insurance so at least they know me!

Wheres all those bike engined caterfield owners that love to post on here telling us everything about their cars...wonder what they do, might go that route myself

It was cheaper for me to have a Westfield and a Nissan over 1 scoob, ALOT CHEEPER, i have a grand a year in my pocket on insurance alone, and prop another grand or 2 in petrol, and prob another grand tyres and brakes (more if i do lots of track days)

I saved 500-1k in service costs per year (depending on miles)

All in all im a lot better off with the westy/cheep run-around, its money i can spend on track days and im saving up for more toys LIKE NOS heheheh

I have separate policies with separate business - anything other is lunacy as if you go to a 'kit car' specialist (adrian Flux 'gold' etc) insurance is sod all.

My Westie, with a PWR of a diablo, no roof/doors/windscreen and so light you could lift it with 3 men cost......£300 per year fully comp. Farcically cheap.
