My last car was BMW 325i (E36) which i loved and spent a small fortune on, to compare them is imposible because of delivery of power could not be more different, the power from a beemer is more refined as a scoob is just pure agressive...also drove my cousin's 328i sport (E36) not a great differance in power but never the less not a slow car..
Beemer V Scooby no chance unless you drive an M3.!! and race in a straight line.
Just my opinion..

BMW's not a problem.
I will never forget this:-
Coming off a round about (Foot to the floor) and this guy in his 3 series beemer tried to show-off (His girlfriend in the passenger seat). He tried to exit the round about in the same manner as me, but he lost his back end and he nearly lost control of the car.
I couldn't stop laughing.
U got to know ur limits

Two different types of car and pros and cons for both. A standard 2001 onwards UK WRX wont be much quicker in a straight line when rolling due to transmission losses, but would have a better P2WR. Where the scoob wins out is take off and grip on damp/wet roads and coming out of slow corners.
Drive one and if you dont like them or undecided then dont buy.

m8 sold my 328sei a couple of months ago to get a scoob, when you compare the two cars the beemer could be classed as a grand tourer, loads of grunt and lots of goodies, where as the scoob is an out and out sports cars masses of power without all the leather and sat nav, i totally hated scoob when i had the beemer but that was until i threw one round a bend , they are a very forgiving car where ability is concern ,whereas the beemer can catch you out big time if your not careful ,having said if i had to get rid of the scoob i would go back to the beemer

Well I work for BMW , dont own a scooby(at the mo) or a Beemer but I can tell you the 328 is good but a scooby is another beast altogether.
I have driven many 328 sports and M3's etc and I reckon a scoob would kill most of em , especially if we are talkin normal twisty roads and not straight line.
The beemer is far too eager to swap ends when powering out of corners ( asc switched off) , whilst the scoob basically powers out with mild understeer if your "gunning" it.
Just my opinion

I test drove my scoob MY 97 back to back the same day with an r reg 328. Dunno why i test drove the beemer just looked nice. Not a comparission in them scoob far quicker. But saying that i lost the scoob on the test drive lol at near a 100 mph. On the same test route and same speed the beemer stuck to the road lol was very weird.

I had an 328i Coupe for 3 years and thoroughly enjoyed it for what it was however my first drive of a my1999 Turbo demonstrated just how much more enjoyable the driving experience is in a Scooby. Getting back into the BMW after the test drive made it feel heavy and sluggish. I ordered a Turbo same day. When the BMW snapped it could be unpredicatable whereas you always know where you are when you're pushing a Subaru.
The acid test was this year after 2½ years of owning my Turbo. I'm due to replace it and thought I should check out some of the latest BM's. Nice though they undoubtedly are, a drive of a new STI made it a no-contest decision. Just wish I didn't have to wait until July to get it!

Drove up to Arran last year and once we had entered Scotland left the motorway and used the back roads across country (AKA the twisties) to get to the ferry. Got caught behind a 328 and he was driving like a loon to keep in front of me, almost lost it on several occasions. Eventually after about five miles the road opened up and I blasted past. Within five minutes he was just a dot in my mirror. I was 3 up and he was on his own. Ultimate driving machine my ****.

Have you considered an m3?Its not not necessarily as exciting to drive as a scoob but its got storming performance and superb build/interior etc and pretty decent economy.
Ive owned both and to be honest I think im happier with the e36 m3.....have a test drive and see what you think....a nice m3 can be picked up for scooby money too...

I'm looking at changing my STI7 + ecutek and full scooby sport.
Am thinking of a 6month old M3 convertible with Tiptronic box.
Does any one have one and what are your views?
Cheers

I used to own E36 M3 cabrio (3.0 litre) , 286bhp no traction control, scary ! total waste of time taking it out in the wet, there is very little than can keep anywhere near you on the straights , but in the bends it's quite honestly pants.
I now have 328Ci which is better because of the traction control, but the light is flashing most of the time through any kind of bendS as the chassis is obviously finding it hard to cope.
328Ci is a bit too soft for me, have been condsidering a scoob for a couple of years now but keep changing my mind, haven't actually driven one yet. Looking to swap in 2-3 months time, but will probably go for a 2.7 Boxster ?

iv had two beemers a 535ise & the 328sport they were both great cars pretty to look at & fast i thought , that was untill i drove my sti4. iv had my scoob for about 6mths now, and it still makes me grin whenever i get the chance to give it a good blast. bmw is a really good car theres no doubt, but if your going purely for performance you cant beat the scoob, IMHO. iv yet to find a bm that can stay with it though a few brave souls have try'ed

before buying i tried m3 coupe, boxS, tamora, 911(996) & sti/ppp.
IMHO ...
sti does it all (& more in some cases) for a lot less money.
tamora was = for grin factor, but that has serious ££ in servicing costs if high mileage user and in the wet you need to be v.good.
BoxS was least liked ... but then it's horses for courses and depends on what you want and like ... no right answer really, you just have to drive them.

I remember last october not long after i had got my scoob.
I was comming back from the peak district driving through a village
at legal speed limits. A BMW 5 series cabrio pulled out in front
of me. As we left the village the BMW decides to show me how much
better his car was, and blasts away. I decide to keep with him,
but he is shifting. I followed him for about 5 miles keeping a
safe distance. I knew that their was an island ahead with a straight section to follow. On exiting the island i kept the power
on and it was such a sweet moment when i shot past him in 3rd
at about 85mph
Great fun but only hypothetical of course

I've had a BMW M3 Evo (321Bhp)and I now have a P1. (280Bhp)
From a standing start the P1 would win every time.(4WD)
Coming off roundabouts the3 P1 would win every time.( You can't put the foot down on the beemer as you end up pointing where you have came from, power needs to go on gradually)
What I have always queried in my mind is from a rolling start from about 70 mph, I'm not sure who would come out on top but I would go for the P1.
Scooby build quality is cr@p compared to the beemer but the Scooby drives better IMHO.

So just how would the P1 make up the loss of 40bhp with more drive train losses? My 250bhp manages to match the P1 from 60 to 100, so I imagine the M3 would be even faster
Not trying to be funny but I HAVE owned them both for a considerable amount of time and as i said it was IMHO.
