wanna know about models, i've seen ls, lsi, vti, esi, and 1.5 and 1.6 vaersions of most of them.

Anyone know which is the best for performance?

I have a 1.8 VTI Aerodeck at the mo and had a 1.6VTI

Cars are well built if a little boring to look at but thats an advantage, plod and thieving scum tend to leave them alone!

Engines are great and pretty bullitproof, will go for 200K mile without work, cars handle well and are great all round cars IMHO

Had my 1.6 off the clock (well past the 140MPH mark) at 8.4K RPM in top, overtaking a Lancia Intergrale, not bad for an annonymous looking 4dr.

1.6VTI is 156BHP stock and 1.8VTI 170BHP stock, 1.8's have an LSD and torque!

They rev high, to 8.5K before goimng into the red and are a bit tiresome on the motorway as the final drive equates to 19MPH per 1K revs so at 80 you are around 4.5k revs, however the engines do not come 'on song' 'till around 4.8K and boy do they go for a n/a engine - rev clean andd hard all the way to the red line and thrive on it, the VTEC bit is sooo simple it is brilliant so nothing really to go wrong there, just a sliding pin in the end of the cam and a relay activate it.
Cars get faster with miles, below 30K not really run it or giving max power.

Quite cheap to service and loads of tuning goodies avaliable.

Oh, they do some really w@nk old duffer friendly colours, Pirates Black is best!

Paul

Thinking of one for the g/f, in black. I'd enjoy borrowing it myself by the sounds of it

I, too have had a 4dr 1.6vti and a 5 dr 1.8vti. For me the 1.6 was far better; the 1.8 has torque but awful gear ratios (2nd & 3rd) which leave you feeling that you're revving for the sake of it. No, go for a 92-95 civic, but make bloody sure it's a vti not a crap ESi - they're both VTECs but the ESi is only a single cam with redline at 7000; vti has twin cams and good for 8000-8500rpm. My 1.6vti was dyno'd at 98,000 miles and gave 167bhp.
