#1
Hi peeps,
just a quick question... does anyone know how many 93-L reg Sierra Sapphire Cosworth's were produced??? also how many in RED?? (not burgundy/magenta..... just plain shiny red...same as escort cossy red)
I know Junction 28 has a pure red one but theirs is on a G plate... just wondered how rare an L reg one was???
any1 ever had/seen one around?
Raf.

junction28 cars is dodgy IMO...!!
I bought a celica GT-Four from them, and after 2 days and only 30miles the water pump went and while my local garage where fixing the pump they discovered a crack in the engine block...!!! they would not take the car back or fix it..! Even though my dad is a soliciter he just said take me to court knowing full well i would not want to do it as i would not have a car for how ever many months it would take to get to court...!!
beware..!

Seem to remember that bright red was a "special order" colour from Ford, and very few were made. In the same way that a very small handful of 2.8 Capri's were automatic.
Cross check the chassis number and the VIN plate: this should tell you the original colour.
As for Junction 28, can't comment. A good bud of mine once bought an Escort Cossie from them, an as new 2k miler. (for 31k!!) No problems, but then you wouldn't expect any would you?

they did saphire RS was 2 door, thats what i assumed the saph cossie was as well, not into fords so excuse my cossie ignorance, but 2 door saphire RS is fact as my neighbours had one for about six years, i saw it daily

Scooby Regular
All German built Sierras had the factory colour (by name) & the chassis no stamped onto an ally plate which was riveted to the front cross panel over the n/s headlamp prior to painting. This plate should look undisturbed & have 'Rosso Red' stamped on it, along with the same chassis no as is under the cover between the drivers seat & the sill.
As with all Cossies, you must check the floor around the chassis no for signs of welding

The only 2 door saloons Ford were making at that time were Orions, and AFAIK they were only development prototypes, none were ever sold.

Midmotorsteve,
What on earth are you talking about . Quote "not into Ford's so excuse my ignorance". Clearly !
No such thing as a 2-door "Sapphire RS" ever existed from the factory. Obviously, 2-door (or 3-door as they are more commonly known) Sierra RS Cosworths existed, approximately 5000 or so between 1986/1987 and 500 ish RS500's 1987/1988. Completely different car to the one you discuss. The Sapphire by Ford's own definition was a 4-door variant. In short and not trying to be harsh, you are talking nonsense in the extreme. Whatever your neighbour had, I assure you that it was not a factory 2-door Sapphire which is a complete contradiction in terms. What you were looking at "daily for six years" sure baffles me.
