A lot of the guys on SSC have met the owner of this car and apparently (only passing on what I've heard) he is a complete pr1ck that is totally up himself. Shame really as its an interesting car he's made

Saxo Boy - I've also seen the same comments on the guy on both the Civic boards - also some rather ambitious claims of 0-100 in 8secs
Fiar play its different - but to me a Turbo just does not 'go' with the nature of a Vtec engine. There's a reason why Supercharging is the most popular FI for vtec Hondas.

That, and the lack of any mention on clutch, LSD, gearbox strengthening, cage, suspension mods, electrical cut-off and, by far the most important, plumbed in fire extinguisher.
In a nutshell, the car is a deathtrap until he gets his act together and sorts out the safety aspects.
Why do people always start with the engine?
As for the work. Well, I thought butchery was a dying trade but...that thing is going to go on fire some day soon!!!

I think the best explanation for that is the guy was trying to get a time, floors it - car goes nowhere but wheels light up and speedo reads 100mph whilst not actually going anywhere

Is that 8psi right ???, seems hardly worth doing isnt that about 0.6 bar ?????
0-100kph in 8 seconds sounds feasible to me .
Is there a TC system fitted ?

Seems abit pointless to me. On the roads around here it can be hard to put down a stock 200BHP. It must have cost a shed full of money. Now bearing in mind that most people in the know say 220 bhp is the limt for a FWD car i would do the following.
Polish the CTR
Than drive to the Nissan dealership
Than buy a ZED 350.
Rear Drive, well balanced, well built car. Cheaper to insure and NO warrenty worries. Cheaper to buy, run and easy to trade in when the time comes.

probably not, a lot of the honda engines can take a small bit of forced induction, the civic vti's, 16v's etc all respond very well to it
Not seen an Ivetec or whatever it is called turbo'd yet
As for 220 being limit in FWD, my Rover is around 230/240bhp fwd and i'd say that it is just about at the limit now before it gets silly and spins everywhere. I do get good traction out of it, rekon about 250-260 and that would be about it, mind you the cossie is rwd and puts down the stage 1 tune very nicely, you can launch that in a completely different way and not have to worry

Also slightly worrying is the fact that 3 cases of pistons through the block have crept up on the Honda Revolutions board. That's with standard UK tuning. God help 300bhp.
Oh, and a little thought. The enlarged air intake must gulp in air. But where does it go. Can't escape up behind the engine onto the screen as in the normal car, so does that make this the first Civic with positive front end lift?

That's the bit that scares me most.

Why? The CTR has some of the best production car brakes ever fitted to a car, it's not like he's put a turbo 2 litre lump into a fiesta with drum brakes is it?

Don't believe the hype. I have one and the brakes are decent but nothing that would worry an Evo, Porsche or RX-7. Most of that info came from Top Gear magazines hot hatch test in October 2001. No other magazine has matched the braking figure they achieved, with most finding it similar to the Leon R or Clio 172.
As for tyres, the RE040's are snappish for lift off with only 200bhp. They have poor traction and a tendency to go "off" within 6000 miles. After that the traction goes down and tramlining becomes a big problem as well.
Like I said, that car on srock brakes and tyres scares the living daylights out of me. There are plenty of times when the standard car can bite without provocation, never mind with additional power and engine braking!

Curious about 'alot of saxo people have met him and say he's a pr1ck?'
Who exactly?? And who are you from saxo club?
I've got a type r, and the guy is on civic forum, seems like really nice bloke. From my saxo days I'm still an official, so curious to know whos said this, as never seen it there.
Good forum btw!
