MOT test
#1
right my father just took his mondeo ghia to polar ford to get its 60k service done and it ended up cost him £500 they ended up changing front disc's and pads because they were aparantly illegal, a rear brake cylinder needed replacing. fine fair enough but the thing is it only had its MOT the week before and passed with flying colours
so my question is do the brakes get checked on an MOT ??

Brakes are looked at on the MOT, brakes are quite important to road safety!!
Did you get the MOT done at the same place? If it was an obvious oversight (i.e. the MOT place didn't do the job properly) I'd report them. Could be an unroadworthy car that kills a family member and if the MOT place did their job properly then the car would not be on the road in poor condition.
Either that or the brakes are fine, in which case Ford are trying to rip you off!

Get a 2nd opinion or go back to halfords for them to re-check else you'll report them. If they still say the brakes are OK then Ford are taking the michael. Else Halfords/AA 'standards' are letting slip.
