Has anyone had any problems with one of these cars ? Especially with the ECU ?
Did anyone know that if there is a problem with the car it automatically shuts down to 5mph
So if you are doing 70pm & the ecu notices a problem then there is an immediate reduction of speed to 5 mph especially scarey in an AUTO ! & VERY DANGEROUS IN MY OPINION

There have been a couple of reports of this, but I'm not sure whether it's a serious problem. I've certainly never had it happen in my car. I don't think the ECU acts as you describe though - I think it's more likely to be a problem with cruise control.

There's a couple of topics about it on my X-Type Forum.

Wink

Rather inconveniently the ECU reacts badly with the acidic content of Pipe tobacco smoke, causing problems.

Cruise control issue could be caused by slippers jamming in the pedal box?

Mike.

I had some minor problems with my first one (replacement headlamp, seat belts, prop shaft, rear diff, fuel tank, fuel tank sender, radio, climate control system, fuel tank again, radio again, drivers door lock and boot lock) but it didn't ever make me drive at 5mph. My second one has been great
