Seat Alhambra 1.9TD SE ( new shape ), Thats what i chose and have no regrets.
This is a Ford/VW joint venture and is the same car as the galaxy/sharan But better value for your money than the other two,
it also uses the VW diesel engine.
Good luck with the twins, we have a 10 month old set this is why i
went to MPV from P1 so i could get all 6 of us in !

Another soon to be ex-scoober due to expanding family...
I'd definitely go for the Seat, tho my missus isn't keen because of the generic bodyshape and the dodgy bonnet badge. She's keen on the Previa which is also worth a test drive, tho somewhat pricier.
If I can get away with the Seat it'll be a big monthly saving compared to the scoob, and I've reserved the right to point those savings at a Caterham when the time is right!

Weve just bought (Well last Sept) a Sharan 1.9 TD PD and its been great, it replaced a Volvo T5 and I do miss the performance but it does 35 MPG as opposed to 22 so I save a fortune, it isnt that slow anyway and isnt embarrasing (115 bhp), they just released a 130 bhp which is marginally quicker but to be honest you dont drive round quickly cos theres no point even though it handles well for a big lump its not much fun to sling round. Really practical and comfy and the seats come out easily.
Theres not much top choose between the Galaxy, Alhambra and Sharan, they are all basically the same with trim differences, price wise as well by the time you look at discounts they are all pretty much the same,we just went with the dealer we always use anyway. Some say theres snob value in having the VW version, why ?
its still the same thing, a people carrier !

Not sure if it has the space but the Honda Stream had a good review in one of the car mags, think it was Evo. 2L V-tec, and suprisingly good handling they said. Styled like a larger CTR, maybe not too everyones taste, it has 7 seats.

If you can live with a Vauxhall badge the Zafira's are good, mum's got a 2.2 petrol, goes well, (ish) has seven seats, and, you don't have to take the seats out when you don't want them, you just hide them!!

Why an MPV? Only makes sense if you've got more than 3 kids. Else get an estate - just as much 'real' space (less headroom but does that really matter with kids! think about it!) and it'll be much more car like to drive (well it IS a car) with better economy, driving dynamics etc. And they have a proper boot. Most MPV's have rear row of seats that means no space for luggage. If you really do need the space and have more than 3 kids then buy a 'proper' MPV with luggage space (grand espace, voyager, VW caravelle, Merc minibus etc.) else I can't see the point.

Spot on Gareth - hence the reason for the question in the first place! I cannot get two rocket seats and a three year old bum in the back seat of a 2.0Ltr Impreza Sportwagon!
Seat seems to have the vote so far...
Any comments on the Galaxy / Sharan?
What about the huge Kia thingy?
Mak.

Reckon I'll be staying away from the Citroens (C8 and Picasso) because they allegedly have a lot of body-roll and are the worst performing of all of them. The new C8/807 does seem to raise the bar though in terms of comfort/equipment.
I'm still for the Seat, mainly because it's the only one I've seen so far that has a footrest adjacent to the clutch pedal Seriously though, I reckon it's "the driver's MPV"...
Edited to say the Alhambra V6 is sadly discontinued...

Good point, not thought of the kiddy seat aspect . There there are estates with seats in the boot worth considering (volvo, merc + others I'm sure), some are good size some are not. Not having a go, I only made the point because most MPV's I see only have about 1 or 2 kids, rarely seen a full one! , also kids grow quickly so how long will you use the kiddy seats for?
Although ugly, the best MPV is the Fiat Multipla. 6 seats and luggage space (this is what most mpv's lack if full of people)
