specs look pretty impresive but not compared to its older cousin:
Mazda RX-8 240ps, 6 speed manual transmission £21,995, abs, xenon lights, electric windows, front and rear brakes and electric sun roof.
Not too bad considering the price and what u get with it either.

Doesnt matter what car it is, takes a brave person to buy a new car to the market. I prefer to let the teething problems be found by someone else . Also spares are also normally an issue on a new cars, like there isnt any for few months as they are going onto new cars. No tunning bits as well. If you must have the latest toy then you have to take the pain sometimes.

Doubt it will take much time for the top major body styling companies and engine moding specialists to think of anything gud. looking forward to see wot they got

It takes a long time to develop things properly how long did it take Prodrive (approved Subaru tuner) to produce, develop and test the MY01 PPP kit to allow reliability and safety.
I am sure an non approved tuner could come up with something very quickly but it would a shame for you to bolt a tuning part on and the engine goes bang 3 months later with no warranty.
Do what you want but I never go after the emperors new clothes .

Defo cheap car tax, but a car is usually rated on it's nickability and total power output.
So being that the UK RX-8 will be 237bhp then it will be I reckon around gp 16-17.
Going to order mine at lunch!

Nope, it's 660cc per rotor. Twin rotors makes 1.3.
TBH I think you'll find it isn't cheap tax. Rotary-engined vehicles used to be rated at 2 or 3 times their capacity (I forget which) under old company car tax rules, so I assume the same would apply here.
Doh! Just realized that VED is based on emissions now, not engine capacity
So it won't be cheap anyway

Ordered a 240ps in Velocity red with leather
Roll on July/August.
Carl company car taxes are based on Emissions and estimates put the RX-8 at around 250g/km
Vehicle taxing is based on engine size and anything under 1549cc will fall into the lower tax bracket.
It will be interesting to see how they rate the rx-8 as it is a rotary engine and cannot be compared to a piston engine.

No, vehicle taxing is now based on emissions not engine size. For vehicles registered before March 2001 there are two bands -- up to 1549cc and over 1549cc. For vehicles registered after this there are 5 bands based on emissions:
