Thought I'd increase the collection of cars - so to compliment the Merc, I'm vaguely looking for an E30 M3.

Found one going very cheap

Went to have a look - not expecting a great deal.

Now fair play to the chap, he did warn me it wasn't great but...

I have never come across a car so utterly shagged.
Interior was horrendous red aftermarket retrim and filthy.
The bodywork was terrible - all rust and micro blisters
It had at some point in its life had a sizable stereo system which had been butchered in, and then butchered out again.

Estimate it needed at least £6000 spent to get it acceptable again, and it was long past ever being a concours car...

And how much did this guy want?

£3500!!!!

Why? oh Why?

I mean how knackered does a car have to be before it stops being 'M3 drivers car collectors item rare as you like' to 'just another shagged 3 series'.

I'd have struggled to feel like stumping up £500 for it.

I fancy one of these too.

I have been looking around and one of our local dealers has one in that has done 197000 miles!!

The engines (and the rest of the car I guess) must be strong as I imagine these cars are driven hard........a lot!!

Well that makes 3 of us - looking for a one myself!!!

There seems to be so much tat out there though!!!

The best ones apparently come from Spain and Italy - mature, wealthy owners and a nice warm climate. I think theres a company that has an ad in EVO.

100K miles is the watershed for massive engine and suspension related bills.

Personally, I won't be looking at anything thats done more than 90,000miles.

It has to be original, unmolested and generally cared for.

Hi Guys

I just sold mine last week diamond metallic black 1989/F with 65000 miles and F.S.H. Great cars I can thoroughly recommend one to anyone and don't let the fact that they are lhd put you off. The only thing they could do with is a bit more power if you add schrick cams and a motec system you have a totally transformed car. Try Moseley Motorsport this guy buys sells and races these cars he knows his stuff.

Cheers

Indy.

I sold mine for 7000, it had a few mods like Koni adjustable suspension, aftermarket exhaust. strut brace, BBS alloys, apart from that the car was immaculate and it was a fully loaded model.
