Question

Looking at getting one for the summer, anyone got one, owned one, bad points good points, dont know *anything* other than the imports are better specified and I'd like one!

I don't know specifics about the special editions but the general common sense stuff applies; check the hood is in good order, check under the footwell carpets and make sure there isn't any (or too much ) rust under there, water can stand there. Check the bottom of the sills, there are four drainage holes there (two pairs each side, either side of the door), these get blocked or even painted over if it's been damaged resulting in water sloshing around after rainfall. Reliability of these cars is amazing, had my 14 year old Eunos nearly a year and not had the slightest problem with it.

Also check underneath for under body damage - all MX -5 have full body length 'sills or rails ' to protect the exhaust etc , but as its a short - ish length car with fairly low ground clearance see a lot with scrapes on these sills / rails.
Check that if an import it has underseal !
