BHP Race
#1
Cars are getting more and more powerful, Audi S6 with 450 BHP, Mercs with nearly 500 bhp, Hot hatches around 200, loads of stuff around 300, Bugatti Veyron with 1000 bhp (not relevant to us but impressive nonetheless)
Any ideas on what we will have in ten years ?, I have heard that the new M5 will have 500 bhp so I suspect Audi and Mercedes will have to match/better it. Do you think that legislation will come in to curb these increases ?
The mind Boggles......

Daft really. If they managed to invest the time/technology and money into developing strong lightweight materials so the overall weight is less then they wouldn't need to develop such high output engines. The cars would then be quicker, more nimble and handle a darn sight better.
Think about it, the original Golf GTi is HALF the weight as the current R32 (which has double the power + 4wd etc.)
Let's face it, the fastest cars round the track are decent Caterhams type cars. Most of motor racing concentrates as much on making their cars lighter, why can't the manufacturers? Also, consider the fuel economy of cars like the caterham/elise etc.

"We have an engine here that has 2.5 times the power of a metal engine of the same size using 1/4 of the fuel. It never uses oil or water and will run almost forever without servicing."
Read all of this and think why they haven't done it...

Interesting reading, they should definitely concentrate on that!
