Does anyone know how a Tiptronic S Boxster S compares to a Manual Boxster S ?

Would like to hear from anyone in the know as to pro's / cons etc when comparing both.

I had heard that a Tiptronic 2.7 Boxster's performance is blunted by the gearbox - is that the case for the Boxster S ??

thanks

Ro.

Dont know if anyone at work has a tip, I think we have enough to do a full test on all the types!

I guess it will blunt the performance I remember seeing figures to the effect that both where a little slower with tip.

Best thing is to get down guildford and try it for size

I think the tiptronic is just a fancy slush box not like ferrari semi auto so will blunt the performance, go for the manual

On the 996 the Tiptronic S is marginally faster than the manual. Fantastic experience, you lay down the power and flick through the gears without letting off! I was sceptical to start with but love the Tiptronic now!

I guess the Boxster is a similar story...

I've got Tip in my C4 and if I bought another it would be the same, performance wise its much of a muchness on the 6 speed C4. Its not like driving a standard automatic. Its pretty smart plus it learns how you drive and limits your revs and changes up earlier when the engine is cold.
Its smart enough to know not to change up going round bends and even when I'm driving quickly I rarely make manual changes unless I want to corner without braking. It changes down when you brake therefore you get engine braking effect, its also blips the throttle and as someone else said it does not require you to drop the revs whilst accelerating.
As for the other comment about it being a slush box, well please let us know what vast knowledge your basing that on
