2l 16v Megane do they have engine problems?

My mate has the car mentioned above and is finding that the oil pressure is fluctuating , when I checked the oil level it was ok but there appeared to be metal in the oil , are they know for throwing big end or main bearings ?

Try http://www.andyspares.com/discussionforum/ they have a Renault forum there that may be helpful, though really its Citroen one that gets the most traffic, strange that..........
