Performance of 206 GTI180

Based on what you've read about GTI180, Peugeot's usual conservative official performance figures, etc etc.. what do you reckon GTI180 0-60 etc will be like ?
Don't know whether to buy a Clio Cup or wait for the GTI180 ?
cheers..

Look at what Peugeot's performance figures for the 106 GTi, current 206 GTi and 306 GTi-6 are, then look somewhere like Evo and see what they were actually tested at...
Faster, every time!
This is due to Peugeot testing their cars from 0-100kmh, which is 0-62mph and also the car is carrying a full tank of fuel plus 2 occupants (driver & passenger) hence the slower times.
So, going off the fact that the imminent 206 GTi-180 is stated as being 0-62mph in 7.1secs then the "real" world 0-60mph time will be around that of the Clio 172 and CTR, i.e. mid 6's.
Now I've driven a Clio Cup "properly" a couple of times as my mates Dad actually owns our local Renault dealer, so I know how quick they are when being hammered and just how well they drive!
They are good, *very* good!
But...
I am thinking about the 206 GTi-180 as well and currently I am biding my time.

Agree with above GTi 180 should have just less Bhp/ton then Clio Cup if it weighs in at same as std GTi.
That said I was always a bit disappointed in my 206 gti performance. Low end torque was good but didnt have any top end power. Overall IMHO I rate the Clio Cup which I now own as a much better car.

Be VERY careful when entering the performance figs! A number of years ago Autocar tested a 206 GTI and recorded figs that would have killed my 306 GTI-6. Strange because the 306 had a lot more poke plus an extra gear.
The "Test" 206 was crashed before Autoexpress could test it. Pug just got a replacement from a dealership and it was like 8 MHP slower and over 1.5 secs slower to 60.
A well known Performance garage in Blackpool, modded there own 206 and it could only just match the "Press car" surplied by Pug.
VAG do it as well, remember how the Skoda Turbo beat the seat Turbo even though it had one less gear! Autocar burned VAG for that one!
Some cheat, others don't............be careful!
