I actually ment that he spun it round in circles in a dead straight or nearly straight line and didn't head towards the carsh barriers !

Also, that when he it the grass, the wheels didn't dig in and flip it over. I has seen that happen a few times

Soooo, to put this into perspective:

A 30 or so lap race the scoob would be a whole lap ahead of the mondeo.

Most tracks are twice this length I'd guess, so a 30 lap race at a typical circuit would result in the scoob overtaking the mondeo twice....that's hardly 'close'

This also shows how much faster 'proper performance' cars such as paginis, ferraris etc. are with the right driver according to top gear times of 1.20/1.30 etc. as they'd be overtaking the scoobs at the same rate, if not faster.

(wheras me in my s2000 would finish way ahead of everyone )

I think you'll find it was just a 2l baggo' mondingo and not the st220 fingy.

The Mondingo was the fastest of the group and a full 3 seconds up on the BMW aswell

IIRC the Focus RS was 6? seconds up on the WRX?

Still, crap these Fords aren't they, you'd have to be wrong in your head to drive one

Lol yep the RS was 6 secs a lap quicker than the scoob not far behing the lambo and the boggo 2.0 mondeo only 2/3 secs slower than the WRX. But I thought scoob's were so great in the twisties obviously not The ST220 Mondeo would have blitzed the scoob.

Co55ie,

Finally I can comment on something u said mate, my pal has a mondeo st200, and I can catagorically(sp?) say that my 94Sti whipped its ***.... big time.

It is also one of those occasions that I can say both drivers were trying like ****, and we are of pretty similar abilty.(brilliant )

So don't think u can compare the two. Have to say I have never been in nor drove a UK turbo or a bugeye so can't comment on their performance. Or would u concede the "classic" shape rice rockets are "ok"

Why do people stil think it's Damon Hill. The guy was a guest on the show so it can hardly be him now can it.

ST200 & STI's what sgoing on....

I only said the Standard 2.0 rep car was only a few seconds off the pace of a WRX. Just thought that was fairly good..... If I could have one for free it would be the WRX over a standard Mondeo any day.

"Stig's" height, build and demeanour are similar to that of D. Hill. Just my impression of the images on my TV screen. The fact that Damon Hill is used on the programme for other things could simply be decoy tactics ... I reckon he's on some contract with wider involvement and they are getting their money's worth ...

all guesswork of course .... we shall see ....

Thinks ... STIG is an annowossname of GTIs ....

BTTT so the WRX owners don't carry on making grossly over the top claims regarding their impreza's.
The comparison between the Mondeo ST220 and scoob WRX is fair both have similar power. As stated if the WRX was only 2 seconds faster a lap than a car (the mondeo 2.0)with 50 percent less power than the WRX then the ST220 which has even better handling and brakes than the 2.0 plus equal power to the WRX would be more than a match for it.

Why on earth are you trying to compare an STi aginst the mondeo for ?
