TT180 vs Aged Golf GTI ?
#1
What do you reckon, 3rd gear roll on from 40 to 90, TT didnt seem to be as quick as my lightly modded GTI 8v (102 bhp @ wheels), he pulls out when it goes to two lanes, I accelerate and it was no quicker, in fact I would say mine had the edge
I put it down to the fact a TT weighs about half as much again as mine, it has 4wd, pas and aircon to power. It seemed to be going for it, well you dont get to ninety if your not all that arsed !

The weight of the young blonde lady in passenger seat of TT(seemingly an easily added extra to TT's) also has it at a disadvantage to your golf. I heard they were a bugger to get installed into old Golfs....

Nah, I seem to see a lot of TT's with a young man in the passenger seat........
I know the TT is more impressive to the ladies, well a certain type of lady but I saw seven of them on the way to work the other day, and guess how many mint, tastefully lowered MK2 Golf GTI's I saw, er one, the one I was driving so there you have it, way more exclusive than a TT.
Todays have a go at the old Golf hero was an Alfa 156 V6, and again, it didnt pull away, just made a bad smell.
Its amazing (and Scoob owners must be used to it I would assume) how many cars want to try it on against my Golf, it must be the Magnex that riles them.

Best car I ever owned was my mK II 8v, all 3 of them ......over 500K Miles in total and no major issues. I also had an 8v Sportline convertable(my wife's really) which I only lost 2 grand after 3 years of ownership....only had 28K on it though . No doubt great motors but bodywork starting to go on most now...all my mk II's suffered from top lip rash at the front and just at the bottom of the hatch lid, all those MWay miles i suppose.

Oi! Nothing wrong with chaps driving TT's! (As long as they have a Westie and a Scoob in the garage as well!)
Seriously, my TT is not that quick (180), but is comfortable, has one of the best interiors in any car period and it's free!!

Mossman, my GTI was free, I won it in 1988 (Daily Mirror compo aged 18), my dad bought it and had it 14 years then gave it to me, the TT is a lovely car but I was surprised it wasnt quicker, I do suspect that he had leather and aircon, I have er a, well trip computer and er some seats !
My GTI seems to get more respect than any of the modern stuff, I get collared at petrol stations by guys who had them in the 80's !
