there was a guy at combe last year (iirc) with a honda type-r engine in it. very quick. very nice. (although he crashed it and made a huge mess, a real shame)

my problem with them is that if you're having to go down the trailer route (i.e. not a road car) then a good formula ford can be had for £5000 which will be quicker, as much fun, keep its resale, will crash better (if you're track driving i think this is a serious point although i got flamed before for saying this should be a consideration when buying a track car) and if you really get into it, you can race it. Otherwise the a seven or derivitive gives many of the same benifits with some more practicality.

If you really want an Atom, go get one (can i have a go ? ) i'm sure you'll love it; but if you just want a light, fast track car then there are possibly cheaper and safer bets.

Fair Point

On reflection if you can have it as road legal it would be sensless not to

Off course that allows those nice summer cruises

first time out in my new elise (a good few years ago), about hour out of London and the heavens open... i got soaked then spent an hour waiting in a petrol station for the rain to stop

why (if you dont mind me asking ) an atom ? i do think they look the absolute DB's

I have seen some track days prohibit single seaters.

can you test drive them ? im guessing that ariel will set something up for you if you're really interested. That's probably the best way forward?

Greg - yep, some folk now dont allow competition cars, some dont allow slicks, etc, etc. But on a purely practical basis driving on a track with other cars around there isnt much difference between a ff1600 and something like the atom.

Cool

Cookiemonster

I have applied for a brochure that will be my next step to arrange a test drive just to ensure my stealth like frame will fit into the car

Phil, you may want to contact John Felstead or Jon Reeves (07966388229) as they have one.
