Question

The problem: Current car (ZX Volcane 8v) feeling a bit slow, and want to upgrade. Price range upto 5K ish..

Would like something ultra reliable, decent performance and fun factor, and vaguely decent re-sale value should I ever get enough dosh for a scoob.

Any ideas?

depends on what you are after...

£5k buys a lot of Mondeo V6 or perhaps a RWD Nissan 200sx for sideways fun. Want AWD? Try an early scooby or a Toyota Celica GT4. Want space? How about a Volvo 850T5, or for fantastic handling try an early 306GTi-6 or an E30 M3...

Faster....are you sure?? I know the old crx VTi type things (the one with the 1.6 16v engine that revs like a ******) was slightly quicker than the VTS because I got beat by one at crail but I was sure I could take all the civics bar the Type R??

Ok, I'll have to discount the VTS / 106 GTI route as I don't fit in the things (the username is accurate - I'm 6ft 6).

Brother has a CRX and do like the VTEC kick, so it's a possible route. Insurance is a bigger problem on stuff like 200Sx's and Scoobs, although given the choice I'd go for 4WD (safer in the wet, which it is quite often!).
