2.5 Litre Fiat Coupe ??
#1
Anyone know if they made a 2.5 Litre Fiat Coupe.
And if so what are key stats in terms of both performance and specification.
I can only find reference to the 5 cylinder 2.0 Litre !!

As far I was aware there we two engine options, the earlier 16V engine based on the Lampredi deisgn twen cam that dates back decades then a later 5 cylinder version and the displacement on both was a shade under 2 litres. Certainly not aware of any factory 2.5 litre version.

Not bad cars, had a bit of a race with a Fiat Coupe Turbo a while back! I must say that they ARE very fast. I did thrash him upto 70mp and then he did start top agin on me. We called it quits at 110mph. They do have a tendancy to blow up very easily.

These are top motors they only made 2 naturally aspirated and 2 turbo versions the first being a 2 litre 16 valve with a detuned lancia integrale motor and the second turbo one a 2 litre 5 cylinder motor that sounds the nuts Both cars are very capable and great lookers too only real shame is that they are front wheel drive one of these with the integrale running gear would be cool I only wish I had the 20 valve motor in my integrale 300 bhp should be enough when it's finished though

Integrale is always a nice car, but shame about the LHD only.
Couldn't help spot Marlow, Bucks.
I used to drink in most pubs in Marlow at some stage!
Mainly the Red Lion, but also the Crown, George&Dragen etc,
Going back many years now.....

Went with a 20v Turbo to Le Mans. Given that I didn't want to abuse my Clutch (MY95 UK Turbo 85K Miles) very well matched in straight lines.
If I hadnt have had a generator in the boot I'd have seen him off through the twisty's

I am one of those culprits with a Fiat Coupe 20 valve Turbo. Standard, as mine is, they put out 220 bhp with a 0-60 of 6 secs, not the quickest car off the line but 2/3 gear acceleration is likely to produce whiplash andf see of a standard scooby, gaining the lost ground up to 60 and maxing out at 155+. Best thing about them is that most folk think a Fiat ain't going to go that fast and get egg on their face when they are destroyed(nicely)My brother has a scooby and we have alot of respect for the performance of each others cars. Anybody around Manchester?Stockport who wants a test fly-give me a shout.

-No 2.5 Litre Coupe, all were either 2.0 turbo/non-turbos.
They are 1.8 (non turbo's) also. (at least in the Netherlands)

My brother has the 20vt and they pull well in a straight line. Handle like a bag of **** though and those front wheels spin like circular ice cubes in the wet! Nice cars when they're not broken, and a grand for a cam belt change?!?!?!! OUCH. He loves it though.

In all honesty I was surprised at how quick the 20V T was off the line. (probably comes with spending too much time on here). Once both cars were rolling on decent tarmac I certainly couldnt pull away. The gap stayed very constant. I'm not into top speeds but have witnessed a 20V going at 155. Complete with live CB coverage

They're fast motors in a straight line in the dry. Not sure what the coupe is based on - think it's Tempra or something naff like that, hence its poor handling.

Not based on a Tempra at all, but if you dig deep enough theres a Tipo chassis down there, although very heavily modified, in fact Autocar called it the best front wheel drive chassis of all time-not bad for a "Tipo" ha ha. Look at most car mags and they do rate the coupes handling, unless you read "Maxed out to the Extreme Max Nova Monthly" or drivel like that.
Nb visit www.fiatcoupe.net and somewhere in there is a copy of Autocar's 0-100-0 test where the coupe destroys the "cultural icon of the nineties", yes, the scooby!!! Good read, a lot of cars in it.

mmmmmm.....so the Fiat may be faster then a uk scooby in the dry, with a rolling start of say 30mph to say 100 mph.
Interesting thought.
Not sure about a Type R with close ratio box though.
Would be quite interesting.
I suppose the scooby would be quicker on a real road, nice and twisty, with fast bits - especially in the damp/wet ??

I know of a 350bhp coupe based on the 2l 16v, with a quick shift low geared box. 18" Ferrari challange wheels with a track day set up on coilovers!
Still probably one of the fastest car's i've ridden in, i remember despatching a 2wd saff cossie out of a roundabout in about fifty yrds!! i was listening to the turbo spooling up on the cossie, thinking this is going to get interesting in a minuite, but we was allready passed
I was a very tough decision to go for the Scoob, I'm friend's with the guy responsible for the engine work, and if I can ever get him away from Fiat's he'll probably go on to make one of the quickest Scooby's in the U.K.
His own car was a 225bhp Fiat uno turbo 1.3, runnig 1.2bar of boost with water and methanol injection since being sold on, it's now being used exclusively for hill climbs, where it currently beats GRP A Cossies and Scoobs.
