Question Audi S3 Opinions?

Fancy a change, recently bought a BMW 530d and to be honest, it isn't really my type of car.

Miss AWD and low down grunt so one of these seems to fit the bill nicely.

Would most likely be looking at an S Tronic 2010 onwards, budget of up to £16.5k

They must be some car if they can beat the legendary WRX PPP in a drag race.

The S3 has the same standard power as an STi, can be taken above 300BHP with just a remap.

Supposedly the S3 is 5.5 0-60, the wrx ppp 4.8,so a bit confusing how the S3 is going ahead of the wrx if its stock.

All down to the driver really, plus I think think that 4.8 for the WRX PPP is a tad optimistic.

just going off manufacturers figures, but does seem to have been backed up when timed.

I doubt the 265bhp for the wrx ppp is accurate.

I love the Audi's and would gladly have one, I had one before albeit it was a normal run of the mill A3 but the spec of them and the interior is good, very well made.

But comparing a 2010 motor to a much older motor doesn't make any sense, plus the difference in cost. Take that spare cash, spend it on mods and the Scooby will be a much better car, in terms of performance, maybe not interior wise.

iv just sold a s3 , as a standard car there really boring, slow no low down power

i spent near on 5k to make mine stage 2+ 380bhp
while it was quick it just felt wrong
no driver input and just didn't cut the mustard

hence iv not got it no more

Don't really like German cars. Always overpriced, reliability is shocking and they charge too much for servicing and spares. A guy at work has a 2010 golf and his EGR unit has just gone on it, Volkswagen wanna charge him £1200 for a New valve and fitting.

Great cars and everything you could possibly need for a daily drive, but as already mentioned can be boring, but having said that a remap can really wake them up a bit, If I had to buy a daily driver and had your budget the Audi S3 with S-tronic would be top of my list!!!

My youngest was looking earlier, and came across lots of sites where the Golf R was described as "just better".

Being "boring" is subjective. Each to their own.

The WRX looked like it bogged down to me in the first try... not sure if the others were the same race from different angles... also seemed to be swerving off too... would agree driver has a lot to do with it... also some PPP cars don't seem to make the full power... mine mullered a mk7 gti down the strip a couple of years ago.

Still if I was going to buy this kind of car again, I'd probably opt for the S3... mostly for the creature comforts/ it being more refined as I'm getting older now.
