Default What will 18k get me?

I'm looking for something that can cruise as I'll be on the motorway a lot, but also something with a bit of power/fun.

I've been looking at BMW's even the BMW 730d M Sport .. but I just can't find what I want.

Help

You could get a Jaguar XF r that's supercharged and it has 500bhp out of the box. If you hunt around you could possibly find an 11plate for that?

I adore the RS4 Avant but surely you wouldn't one as a motorway cruiser?! The high miles for servicing and fuel costs would be crippling.

also a 9 year old motor!!

(not that I mind running an "oldie" - my A4 is 15 years and 211k)

but 18K does seem a lot for a 9 year old Audi Estate

Petrol or derv, Mark?

A remapped 330/335/530/535 derv is a very quick car. Depends what size you want?

My old 330d coupe with the DPF/EGR/swirl flaps gone was bloody good fun but frugal too!

If it was my 18K, I'd spend 5 or 6 of it on a well-maintained 10-year old 745li or Audi A8 lwb, and save the rest for fuel and servicing. Ridiculous amounts of toys on board, plus a good 350bhp through the rear or all four wheels to keep you moving along nicely, luxury bangernomics at its best

Spec B Legacy - all the creature comforts, whisper quiet, and moves along with no effort required. AWD and a reasonable amount of power - although not in league with some of the marques stated on the thread.

Low miles, fraction of the price and will be up for sale soon.
