Delorean Blast from the past restoration project
Wow
Just stumbled across My old website / blog created in 2002 when I fully restored a Delorean whilst living in Northern Ireland.
I though this had fallen on the old NTL site but its still there.....
its a bit of a hard read, very wordy, but brings back a lot of memories for me.. even the photos are still there...
if you are interested take a peek here

I had some help with the realignment, and welding but two chaps that worked for Stenna line ferries on the HSS high speed...
They had a work shop and facilities to do the work.
The engine was a lesson in itself, the PRV V6
A collaboration between Pugeot Renault and Volvo, the V6 variant.
As for performance.. Not fast, slow and heavy.
Sold for £14,000 so made a few quid.
Would buy another in a flash

Hi,
Drove one of these in Saudi Arabia in 1984.
Two strong memories - firstly get in the car - then how do you shut the door? Look up and find a leather strap hanging down!
Second memory was the underwhelming performance from the Renault engine and the auto box!
Still an interesting, great looking car - would love to have one in my collection!
Cheers

Yes, you have alwys been able to get a new one made up, DMC Houston is where I got alot of my parts from.
They bought up all stock when the place went bust.
Delorean was geared up to build 33,000 cars a year and thet built 8500 is in 3 years so a lot of spare parts we aquired.
Back when I had mine they were approx $60,000 so they have gone up a bit then.....
These ones have a galvanised chassis is stead of a mild steal epoxy coated one the original had, which was a weak spot.
Once the epoxy cracked and water got in....... well you can see the state of the chassis I had...
happy days
