Mercedes CLS
Thinking of getting rid of my E60 530i manual and have always liked the unusual style of the CLS. Given that I've done 5k miles in 2 1/2 years I can safely say that I'm not too fussed with fuelling one and that a petrol would make more sense than a diesel?
Anyone got or had one? I've seen an early 500 advertised that looks pretty good. Anything to look out for apart from petrol stations should I get one?

Hi, mate. If I were you I'd look at some Mercedes forums. I researched the CLK55 AMG a few weeks ago and found a plethora of information about common faults, on sites such as mbclub, mbworld, and benzworld. Unfortunately, some of them were American, but don't let that put you off. Oh, and Pistonheads is always worth a read.
I take it you've got a big garage then?

You'll always find bad things on the internet in my opinion.
I had a W209 CLK55 for nearly 2 years, can't say it cost me a lot during that time, apart from petrol and rear tyres.
A friend of mine has a W208 CLK55 which he's owned from about 2003, I'm not aware of any big bills on his side, but rust is most definitely a problem with his.
Mine was beginning to show signs of rust on the lip of the rear wheel arch.
CLS is a seriously big car

I didn't realise how big the CLS was until I parked my 5 series next to one! I ended up looking at a 645 and CLK280 convertibles instead.
Not to keen on the £490 a year car tax - bit of a wounder by all accounts!
