Hi,
Looks very clean and unmolested!
Great, unusual car with that very special engine.
I was never brave enough to buy a car with a rotary engine - because of all the horror stories about fuel and oil consumption!
Cheers
Steve

Nice motor! as for the horror stories you may just get lucky, my mate owned one for 2 years without any issues at all.

Always liked the shape of the car but the engine and oil consumption is another thing and you have to deal with it after every drive out so a very finicky car that does not like to be abused with no oil checks etc. .

As long as you look after them and once warmed up they love to be rev'd.

Make sure you give it a good redlining on every drive (once its warm obviously). They need to be revved to help maintain them. I wouldn't recommend starting it from cold just to move around the driveway etc either then switching off. Really capable cars though, the chassis is very good.

My son bought one 4 months ago, straight from the garage it wouldn't start when hot, £1000 later, engine rebuilt! hmmm
A guy pulled up next to me in one at the petrol station recently, and left the engine running while he filled it! hmmm!

Nice looking cars, good luck!

My parents had one of these from new - no issues with it other than very high fuel consumption and ridiculous depreciation when they came to sell it on. Always liked it, seemed to have plenty of poke and grip.

These are a great car if there looked after my dad has owned his since new and still going strong.
I'd up rate the starter motor and there is also an up rated plug and lead kit this will solve the staring issues as was mentioned above staring from hot they don't like it this also strips the cat which can be costly.
Very nice car tho mate I'd have one

The plastic surrounds, above the exhaust pipes, have melted on my boys RX8! Must be some heat coming out of those!
He's loving it though

They sound like their doing about 80 when cruising around at 30!
A mate had a special edition one (white with smoked alloys - can't remember the model) which was nice.
They seem touched by greatness but flawed too - that mpg is truly scary. Fun though and I love the style and suicide doors.
Hope yours serves you well!

Just to sort the fact from the fiction, as I've actually owned one rather than those listening to rumours.

Bad points - terrible on fuel (15-20mpg at best), cats can fail caused by over fuelling following ignition problems. They rust.

Good points - probably the best handling car I have ever driven / owned. They don't use any more oil than any other car and can be run on cheap 10/40 so very inexpensive. Incredibly reliable if you get one that has been looked after by the previous owner ie oil checked often and not run on synthetic, plugs, coils and leads replaced as maintenance items, not flooded by shutting off when cold. Surprisingly practical.

If the worst happens you can get a proffesional re build for around £2k.

A good friend of mine had one, cracking cars.
MPG is rubbish. Driving Miss Daisy wont improve your fuel economy either so you might as well drive it hard everywhere.

+1

I owned one for six months and loved everything apart from the power. Really comfortable, planted and smooth delivery. Join the RX8 owners club as they are great bunch of guys and really helpful.
