Vito Sport-X 122CDi 220bhp
Had the pleasure of driving one of these rare beasts.
For those that don't know that's a Vito van with the 3.0 V6 diesel engine out of a E300CDi.
Silly is the the best way I can put it. Powerful engine + Van suspension. So it rolls, it pitches, and it can't put the power down cleanly. But in a straight line its pretty nippy....for a van! Really need some form of active suspension or roll control to make it behave better.
Is it better than a Transit 3.2. Yes and no...The transit has ALOT more torque. The Transit 3.2 will light up a back wheel in 4th gear...and that's with a double rear axle. The Transit is heavier so it feels more planted. The Vito isn't. But the Vito has taller fiinal gearing, so its better on the motorway. The Transit is restricted to about 100mph (and final gearing won't allow it to go much faster), and the gear ratios are close so it means you waste alot of time changing gears during 0-60 sprint.
Driven 5pot VW Transporters (RIP) and they can't hold a candle to either in terms of power delivery.
Just need to try a Sprinter V6, same engine, bigger van; Also available in AWD.

The 3.0V6 Vito's are good, drove a few when working for Mercedes High Performance Engines, had a fleet of them, all with tiptronic boxes.
Also had a pair of LWB 4x4 Sprinters with the V6, used for the twice weekly trip to Stuttgart, they did starship mileage with very few issues.
