Default One for you Golf GTI turbo owners ?

Mate at work has a Mk 5 Golf GTI (turbo), we fitted the Forge spacer to the divertor valve, basicly if you dont know, it creates the Pssst noise on lift off instead of fitting the whole dumpvalve thing as this requires relocation etc etc.

Anyhoo, the question, upon fitting the spacer, it sounds good when throttle lift off occurs, a nice whoosh/psst etc but the weird thing is it whistles like **** when accelerating , is this normal ? to me, it isnt, sounds like boost being escaped but the car was taken to the garage and they did a boos test on it and results were normal but not usre if they did the test with or without the spacer (not my car and he doesnt know yet)

so throwing the question out there to see if anyone knows ?

cheers

Has he still got the standard intake?
if not the noise is most likely come from the filter

My Golf Gti makes a whistling sound when it comes onto boost(if you can hear it over the wheel spinning), still got the standard air intake, but have a full Milltek decat exhaust and a remap!!

If it was leaking boost by any large amount, it'd start logging fault codes to do with the AFR (Oxygen sensor) or MAF, maybe a boost correlation code too.
