Default Wirral Met College workshop sessions

I work at the college and have been discussing the possiblity of using the colleges vehicle workshops for car club members to work on their own vehicles.

This could be done a few evenings a month (depending on interest) for a small charge (£5 per person).

This would be ideal for people wanting to do jobs that require a lift, also wheel tracking and brake testing equipment could be used. A lecturer would be there to instruct or help out.

Still just an idea at the moment but if I get enough interest it may go ahead. Post or PM me if you would like to be involved in this!

Tom, could the offer be opened up beyond Scoobynet?? The company I work for are nearby to the college and we've got some close contacts with the college for various reasons, I'm sure there would be plenty of interest. Let me know

Tom, we have 550 staff - I'd need to know if it was ok before I could promote it in work, not that I think they would all be interested but I can't do a quick ask around. I'll pm you the company name and my contact details

Discussed it today but need to sit down on monday and get area managers approval and finalise details.
I think big jobs like clutches will take too long for the length of session I will be able to get right now at least until it gets off the ground.

In the future prehaps, all day sessions could be organised.

So anybody else interested? It would be at the 12 Quays site in birkenhead btw

Ok Guys, FINALLY got to speak to the boss today about the workshop sessions.

Were going to run the first session on TUESDAY the 28th (the tuesday before the run) at 6.00-8.00 in the evening. This will be an oppourtunity to get the cars on the ramps and check them over, or what ever else can be done in two hours.

This fist session will be free of charge to allow us to gauge interest and let you guys decide if it is something you would want to do regulary.

Throughout the sessions jobs we are looking to offer are:

Pre-MOT checks
Servicing
Wheel alingment
Brake maintenance and testing
Tyre fitment and wheel balancing
Component fitting eg. exhausts and suspension (the specifics of this would have to discussed prior to the session as people are worried that bolts or fittings could break that could not be replaced there and then)

If enough people come to the initial free session and decide they like it I should be able to keep the cost of the subsequent sessions to a minimum if enough people are willing to re-attend.

So get your name on the list if this is for you!

Thanks Lee!
Okay guys, on tuesday if I meet you in the car park (the end quarter by the basket ball courts) at 6.00 then we can all go in and get passes from reception.

We can then go to the workshop and get some of the cars in, If anyone dosent have any overalls/boots dont worry, I do have a few sets to borrow.

If anyone is unclear about where to go or anything PM me and ill try and help.

Might be a silly question but is it the first right at the traffic lights facing the old SLM's bike shop? (After the three way lights that head towards Hamilton square.)

Im not sure where that bike shop is mate, If its the three way lights i think you mean then its straight ahead onto shore road and then left, and then u see the college and its the second right for the big car park at the back. Im rubbish with directions, unfortunatly
