Default Blackpool Big One '05 - details.

Can this thread be left blank, for now, so i can post details ......

This years event will definately be going ahead....

SATURDAY 15th OCTOBER

As last year, my thanks to StickyStuff who is organising a banner, and stickers for the event, To Andyd9577, who has been a tremendous helping with sorting a 'new' venue.

This year, the plan is to do a North to South run through the lights ...meeting at a venue giving access to the North , and a regroup at the end of the lights.

For those planning arrival times, the meeting time will be 6.30 for 7.30 depart
for the lights .there is then a short, but straight run to the lights.

I will post the exact meet point, later next week, except to say that is is North of the lights....not south as last year.

we have Police approval as last year, and only those with scoobynet stickers will be deemed officially part of this event.

As last year, we are doing this for charity, and we hope that all can donate a minimum of £5 towards the very worthy cause 'Give a Child a Chance'.

Will keep you informed

Frank

Why is this, i dont have any scoobynet stickers on the car, or any other stickers for that matter and i will also point out nor do i have any intention of putting any on the car.

What do you mean by deemed officialy part of the event???

Thanks

hi m8, last year we got the sticker(about 5' x 4') when you put your £5 in the bucket for charity, at the meet point in Blackpool.

ok, sorry

i read a little to much into that,

as i wont be able to leave my place till half 3, it wont be till 6pm that i will arrive. as i planned on going to this, showing our support was the general idea, as well as meeting a few new faces, where do we meet, roughly, im sure 100 burbeling scoobs cant be that he=ard to find,

does it have to be on the car, would like one anyway to keep with all the rest of the gear.

so any ideas on the whereabouts at aroung 6pm would be much appreciated

I will post the exact meet venue later this week.....

for those who remember last year our intentions got posted on about 10 other car forums and gained some unwanted publicity.

The meet venue is about 10mins drive from the start of the North lights start..

The sticker system, serves a number of purposes..

1. To identify who we are, and what we are there for.

2. If we do have any unwanted guests, and we have any problems, we can ask....did they have an event sticker ?? if not, they arent with us...

3. They promote Scoobynet and the 'Give A Child A Chance' Charity.

4. It also lets the land owners know you are part of the event, distinguishing you from members of the public.

At the risk of sounding daft, They dont give us the right to break the law.....theyre a means of identification..

And a souvenier if you want to keep it.

As for sticking to your vehicle, No you dont have to, put it on your dash, so they can be seen.

It is a Blackpool Big One sticker, not a scoobynet sticker as sold on the forum with memberships etc

They wil be available on the night, for a suitable donation to the charity...

Last year we raised £550 - that was from roughly £5 per car.

Any sort of idea what time we would be back at the meet point, as I quite fancy this, and would bring the Mrs and kids to see the lights as well ?

We have been given permission to use Halfords carpark, near the airport, for our second regroup after the lights.

This venue has the added bonus of McD's.

Unfortunately it is impossible to predict a time when we will all get back there.
The bonus of going through the lights early is it gives us this option. Whereas last year it was 11pm ish.

The Police did patrol the area last year, but they were on hand to support us, apart from 1 or 2 that did give a bit of right foot. And they moved along a group of locals that had congregated.

The Police have given us the thumbs up....lets not spoil it. This has the potential to be an awesome series of meets and with the fun of the lights between them.

I will reveal the MAIN meet venue later this week..... It is North of the lights.

Meet time is 6pm for 6.40depart.

No choice really Chris ........if we made it later, it would have to be much later, pretty much going on the request of the police.. The other option would have been around 9.30, and that would probably be too late.

Default EVENT DETAILS, and schedule .....

The details..

The Meet venue is at :-

The Marine Hall
Fleetwood, Promenade.
6pm - 6.40pm

Lights switch on is 6.50pm

Take the M55, for Blackpool, and leave at Junct 3.
Follow the signs for 'Freeport leisure'
this will take you to Fleetwood
It is approx 12 mile from the motorway to the venue.
As you leave the motorway, the road is a 50mph speed limit, and has got speed cameras....please be aware.

As you arrive in Fleetwood, there is a sign for the marine hall, ignore it, go ontil you pass the Freeport complex (on your right) , and follow to the promenade ...you will pass the small docks area.. And then you will arrive at the Marine Hall. (on your right)

The venue has toilets, but does not have the luxury of catering ...it does however have excellent photo opportunities...

The meet will last approx 40mins at Fleetwood, before the first cars depart for Blackpool.

When leaving the Marine Hall, we will be turning left ...then after a right, you come to a roundabout, where you turn right, and follow the road through to Blackpool...again please observe the speed limits as there was camera's...and there may be a Police presence.

This route now follows the tram route into Blackpool....from the North end. it is approx 10mins drive......!!!!! well..5 miles.

You will pass through the town centre of Cleveleys ...... caution, there is a road sign saying illuminations traffic bear left 'thats for departing traffic', you go straight on, thats on to the coast road, which leads to the start of the lights. There is a massive straight leading to the lights....passing the Norbreck Castle Hotel

Both the Police in Blackpool, and Lancashire Police for fleetwood, have been informed, and we have permission for this event ........... this has been subject to the excellent feedback from last year...... In order for this to remain an annual event we have to ensure that we all keep ourselves whiter than white. The sticker system will help to identify us.... excellent if we're doing things rights, but if we step out of line ....!!

Due to numbers please expect some delay ...... its unavoidable, but you know that following that route you will get to,and through the lights....

At Fleetwood, the local lads have agreed to arrive early to help marshall, please respect them.... if your not in a scoob, they may not let you into the parking area - thats to keep the venue to ourselves. Anybody not associated to the event, may be asked to leave.

After completing your drive through the lights, you will come to a set of traffic lights, head towards Blackpool airport/ motorway, on the next industrial park is Halfords where we have permission to re-group. This is optional. There is a maccys at this venue. departure time from here is up to you. (last year we did have one or two come blasting onto here, and they did have some uniformed friends following close to have a chat with.

The Police know we're heading there, please lets not give them anything to complain about, rather lets have them sing our praises.

At Fleetwood, we also have interest from the local newspaper ..so dont forget to smile....they'll either picture 130 or so enjoying themselves or highlight on the 'ONE' that spoils it.

There is an Optimax garage in Fleetwood, should you require it, but it may get packed...!!!

Im looking forward to the event...... look forward to seeing you all................and please, dont forget to dig deep, to donate for the charity 'Give A Child A Chance' .... We're lucky enough to be part of this and to make it happen, the money we donate helps children for whom this is just a dream.

Thanks for all your support.. and to those who've helped in setting this up

Lets make it a night to remember..

Frank
