A62 Gelderd Road - Please Read.
I'm not sure how many of you guys on here use the A62 Gelderd Road which links the M62/M621 with Leeds city centre, but I thought I'd let you know that the council plan to reduce the speed limit which is currently 60mph to 50mph & 40mph
This is possibly one of the nicest stretches of road left untouched in Leeds as I'm sure anyone who has used it will agree. The council are currently advertising for objections which have to be in by June 1st.
In the past 5 years there have been 5 serious injuries and one casualty, contrasted with the vast volumes that use the road, this is a miniscule amount and there is no saying that making the speed limit would have made any difference. In the report by the council even the Police said the speed limit was reasonable given the surrounding areas!
To show both sides of the story I've attached a link at the bottom that shows the council's findings.
I would really urge people to object to these proposals, rather than complaining after the horse has bolted. Bear one thing in mind - ONCE SPEED LIMITS ARE REDUCED THEY WILL NOT BE PUT BACK UP.
Objections should be emailed to john.knipe@leeds.gov.uk quoting reference A76/jak/868626 alternatively if you're old school (like me) and wish to write he can be contacted at:
Development Section
Department of Legal and Democratic Services
Civic Hall
Leeds
LS1 1UR
Hopefully I'll get to meet up with some of you West Yorks guys soon as I've just put down the deposit on a lovely Bug Eye (?!) Sti with PPP should have it next week. 'Til then take care guys.
Link to council's findings is http://www.leeds.gov.uk/files/2005/w...132c6f020e.pdf

Will be great to see you and your first scoob at the next meet on the 26th...
Don't worry.. you'll be amongst other car 'crazies' and I'm sure you'll find one or two in the same annoying bracket as they go on about their motors
Meeting thread going up today, so keep an eye out for the details..
Al.
9 Months? Is there some new medical breakthrough that we've not been told about? How on earth did you get a surrogate mum for that?

Aah... Missed that Mr Events Sec sir....
Anyway, I was going gentle on the guy.. should his first session with us, test his new car handling skills to the limit on a WYIOC run?
Or should it be a gentle break in with a shandy, Mixed Grill and look around the hardware...
As I don't know him.. I opted on the side of caution.. no sense in scaring away prospective members by getting him to tailgate Dazza Then again, SCG may be quite happy to have a good run to bed all those new bits in..
SCG.. It wasn't a snub for the 18th.. feel free to join us in the hastily, but very well formed, planned mid month run.

Mid month meet is sounding very good if no low life has stolen it between this Sat and then.
