:: :: WYIOC 3rd Rallydrive Trackday - 9th April :: ::
Following the success of our previous 2 trackdays at Rallydrive, West Yorkshire Impreza Owners Club are pleased to announce their 3rd event on....
Saturday the 9th of April 2005
The Venue
Rallydrive is 10 miles south of Scnuthorpe just outside the village of Blyton, and is sited on a disused WWII airfield in the middle of a cornfield. As it is not a pure racing track in the mould of Donnington or Oulton, the surface is a little rough and there are some potholes (imagine TopGears track), but so far no-one has done any damage (except a Vectra owner who strayed into the cornfield). The circuit itself has been set up to challenge the balance and handling of the professional racing and rally teams whom use it as a test facility, and so provides plenty of fun on its 1 1/4 mile lap.
Schedule
The venue will be ours for the whole day from our arrival at (hopefully ) 8.30am to sometime around 4.30pm, allowing plenty of track time for everybody. We will continue with our successful 4 token system with 4 cars on track at a time. Previous experience shows that most people do 3-6 laps (5-10 minutes) and then come off for a breather so everyone should get as much time as they want.
Facilities
Facilities are somewhat spartan so it's recommended that you bring your own refreshments, picnic chairs & tables and prepare for any bad weather we may have (let's hope for some rain ). I will bring along the last of our triple party pack of disposable BBQ's which as usual, is open for use by anyone.
Don't forget your sausages burgers and rolls for the BBQ
Costs
As before, this is a non-profit event organised purely for the fun and enjoyment of Scooby and other performance car owners, and the costs are to be shared equally and hence the price cannot be finalised until the day when we know exactly how many are there. As an example, if we have...
15 cars it will be £30,
20 cars is £27,
25 cars £25.
Additional drivers to each car shall be £10 each, pay on day.
Spectators shall be charged at £5 per car, pay on day.
Maximum 30 cars for the track
Tuition
Tuition will be available, but unfortunately Howard will not be there. One of his staff will be there should anyone care to still have it.
Getting there
Trading Post
As before, we will travel down in a convoy. This time we will set off from The Trading Post (WYIOC monthly meet venue) at 7.30am.
Multimap for Trading Post
In brief, from M62 J31, follow A655 north going straight over 1st roundabout and almost immediately turning right at the next lights. Take the 1st left and left again and you'll be in the car park.
Trading Post, Commerce Park, Pioneer Way, Whitwood, Castleford.
And on to Blyton...
The route takes us along the M62 east to J35, M18 south to J5, M180 east to J3 then right onto the A18, right onto the A159 and down to the Optimax station. Then straight down to Blyton and left onto the B1205.
SAFETY
Last but foremost in everybodies minds must be safety. On track we run 4 cars at a time with NO OVERTAKING. Any measurement of abilitiy will be done with a stopwatch. Off track everyone MUST observe a strict 5 mph limit. There will be people, and possibly children walking around the paddock area. Anyone thought to be endangering safety shall have a single warning, then be asked to leave the premises with no refund. Thankfully it has never come close to this, and I doubt it ever will.
Helmets must be worn by anyone in a vehicle on track, driver or passenger, so if you have your own it is advised you bring it.

Can we get the webby to change the title to reflect the new date?
Nice pics BTW.. Where's the Silver one... on the ragged edge? on three wheels?
Going slower than Daz with the burning wheels..

Guys, how would everyone feel about paying a little extra (£80 split between everyone) for the hire of a 12metre access platform. The idea being to position it at various SAFE locations around the track during the course of the day, thereby giving an exceptional platform from which to film / take piccies.
Just an idea, which I had whilst using said machine to install The Racing Line's sign (Chris knows what I'm on about)
Looks a bit like this
can hold two people in complete safety.
Would probably work out at an extra fiver or so each for the opportunity for some stunning photos.
Thoughts?

I'd probably have to run that idea past Howard. Would make for some good piccys, although I think our 2 resident photographers (yes Chris, you ARE coming) could do a good job at ground level if positioned right.

Complete safety?????? Are you mad????? For one, its CoG is pretty crap!! So count me out on standing on that, fully extended, trying to take the hairpin at 37 behind Daz
Before you say it... I don't care if it can do 90 on the straight...
I have GOT to see some phoshopped pictures of two guys stood on it fully extended, wearing crash helmets, one with a camaera and the other with a long control lead Flying behind or overtaking a rampaging scoob into a hairpin!!

Willing to make the Stickyvan available for transporting any wheels that need to go. Just need a volunteer driver.
(Only want to take it to get it round the track quicker than Chris's wagon

Dave, can you stick Chishyboy down as a definite. I'll sort you all deposits out at the next meet if that's okay.

None of the above,
I am doing a DIY oil change tommrrow. The car has to survivie this first, what with these subaru engines made outta eggshells!
I thought my OEM pads were shot, took em off and there is still 1/2 their life (front drivers side anyway) left. Do you think 1/2 a set a pads will last the day? Having said that who gives a $hite it's cheap anyway!
I wil let you know next week
Damian.

Don't use the middle pedal, that way they'll last forever
Pads should last no problem, it's tyres that take the most hammer. Just bring a fleet of Kwik-fit mobile vans along with you.

Count me in
Just seen the date change which means that I can now make this. Give me a chance to run my recently aquired track day wheels - travelling to Rallydrive without spare rims and rubber (like I did last year) is pretty risky!
So count me in - will send deposit cheque in next couple of days.
