charity - * XMAS Big One *.
Anybody interested..??
One Saturday evening sometime in December ......? tired of xmas shopping a, and fancy a break.
Xmas Big One - to raise funds for 'give a child a chance'.
I have spoken to the Land-owner, so i have the green light, if we get sufficient interest.
The venue is situated on the A49, right next to its junction with the M62, and only 2 mins from the main M62/M6 interchange.....so has excellent access. (Warrington - Cheshire)
The venue is the same place as used by cruisecheshire(they meet monday night). But this will be a scoobynet only meet...or limited invite.
It is private land, has access that can be monitored. The venue can cater for 150 cars plus (as a guess)
a catering van can be provided, and it has mobile toilet facilty..... the area also has moderate lighting.
the ground is gravel..... so no worry about getting muddy.
we could also have our own 'scoobynet car boot sale' ...... so if you need to have a garage clear out, this could be an excellent opportunity.
As this would be a 'pay on the gate' ... there needs to be sufficient interest , from the landowners view to make this financially worthwhile....hence why i have not set a confirmed date.
my proposal would be to have the land 6.30pm til 10.30pm,
I could try and presuade myself to bring a 'few' fireworks to end the evening ....
the landowner normally charges approx £1 or £2 for entry(pay at the gate).....
details to be finalised..subject to interest level...if we did fireworks and made this a charity event, then £5 at the gate..?? (£1 entry, £3 to the charity, and £1 towards firework costs)
If you are interested, please drop your name on the list ....(and a preferred date)
Frank

For those totally unfamiliar with the site ... it is an outdoor event, so winter warms will be an essential...!
Looking good tho, as this would be a pay on the gate, we do need a fair interest list.

I'll propose this as an event for the WYIOC group (I see Sticky's alrerady in )and see if we can get 20 or so. If we can set it for the 18th it will tie in nicely with our WYIOC vs WR1 karting day and make a good session I suppose it all depends on timing & logistics but I'll see if we can make it.

Just been informed that the start time for the WYIOC karting is 5.30pm, so if we are to bring a party along it can't be the 18th. Sunday 19th would be good

EVENT CANCELLATION..!!
Thanks to all who have initially supported this, but as time moves closer, and things need to be planned .... i cant leave it too much longer before i have to commit to raising the funds to pay for fireworks, and book the land, and sort any other items ...
At present, i cant foresee us hitting the numbers needed to make this a success, so i have decided it best to cancel this event.
Once again, thanks to all who have shown commitment.
Looking forward to seeing you all in 2005, if not before.
Frank

Sorry folks, its a definate cancellation on this one...
If the fireworks were to happen, i was looking at spending £300 - 400, and then i'd need to take out public liability insurance. Unfortunately i cant hold, incase we dont get the numbers .....realistically we need 40 - 50+ to make this financially worthwhile (for the land-owner)...the initial interest was really good, but it appears to have gone quiet.
So, its a definate cancellation.
Once again, apologies to those who did express their support

To be fair you did all you could though so well done for giving it a bloody good attempt.
Am sure Blackpool will have more takers again next year
