Any WYIOC folk up for a drive out on Sunday?
Short notice, I know, but was chatting to Nick about it yesterday. Nothing too organised, just fancied meeting up somewhere (the Bridge?) and going for a blast. Possibly to Ladybower Inn, Snake pass, etc.
I know the roads are gonna be a bit busier than usual, but it wouldn't be a redline all the way job, 'cos some of us would have kids in tow.
Put yer emulsion brushes down, leave the lawnmower in the shed, and add your name here...
We'll sort times out later, but was thinking meet at 11ish, get to pub for lunch between 12-1:30, back for 3-4:00 ish

Just typical I'm supposed to get Easter W/E off, but opted to work for the double time and days in lieu and you lot go and organise a drive out
Saving grace is the extra cash will cover my suspension mods (unless CG gets her hands on it 1st )
Have fun guys. I'll be sleeping in preparation of a 12hr nightshift I'll try and dream my way along the Snake Pass and up the Cat & Fiddle.

HB, does this mean you too are a fellow mountain biker. IIRC so is Al C, I can see a WYIOC MTB ride out coming very soon. Ladybower's 'kin excellent for it. Go there as often as possible (not very, lately).
I'm one of those sad gits who prefers going UP hills to coming down them.
Always pop into the Inn for a couple of shandys afterwards too
Lets get organising...

I'll bring our lass over to pick your car up, we'll strap the DVcam to the bonnet, and she can take it for a spin. You can then watch the footage at you leisure. And 'cos I'm such a nice chap, I'll go halves with you on the optimax. Can't say fairer than that, just let me know what time...

Much better things to do than this!
I'm off to an old people home to sit in front of my 88 yeard old Gran and watch her spill gravy down her front. The I can sit and listen to my parents complain about this for a few hours, and then tell me how much better it was in their time.
After this I'm off to sit in another relatives front room listening to my Mom tell everyone how I was such a great kid and go through all the bad things I did, getting my cheeks 'wobbled' at the same time.. and how proud she is off me after being in a few Wars etc (with some superbly embelished stories of 'derring do' and hand to hand combat)
Then back to my Parents to watch TV in the front room with the TV at 103 decibels and the 4x 100 Watt light bulbs blaring....
Now THAT's FUN...
Go on suckers enjoy your 'silly' day out driving around the 'Silly' Dales on those sweeping empty roads and that rubbish pint of Theakstons as you sit listening to you silly cars 'ticking' as they cool down....

Sticky - yup, Kath & I have been MTBing for a few years now. I'm fast in a straight line, but tend to fall off round bends... Anyway, averaged over 12 mph round the off road bit of the Ladybower circuit yesterday, so can't be too cr*p I guess.
As for shandy - I usually put it in the Camelbak for sustenance on the way round...
As you say, Let' get a WYIOC MTBing session organised - round L'bower would be great. I've been trying to get Simon to take it up, but he seems to prefer football....
Cheers, Chris.

A Drive around sounds like a good way of removing frustrations esp after a sedate drive to Flamingo yesterday (Family in car)! Count me in. Earlier the better as I'll have to be home circa 2.45pm
Steve
Biking sounds just a bit too strenuous to me.

CG & myself are bikers. Well, used to be. CG had a bad fall a few years back, and we never really got back into it like before. This could be the impotus we need, but you will all have to cut our fitness some slack. We'll be the ones at the back, with the red faces and oxygen masks. Get us a pint in, when you order your third
Sticky, thanks for the offer, and as much as I'd love to know she's being treated to a spirited and exhilerating drive I shall decline this time I could send CG along, but she'd get lost trying to find Huddersfield let alone the Bridge and besides, I wouldn't want to deter her from finishing decorating the bathroom in my absence

Okay chaps, I propose a plan of action something like this (taking Steve's needs to be back for 2:45 into consideration)
Meet at the Holmfield Arms car park at 10:00 am Depart 10:15 ish or as soon as we're all there (No point bothering with the 'Bridge' if we're all going from this way on...)(HB, get in touch if you're coming, your post was a little cryptic)
Me
NickDF
MadGrip
Stevechaps
Set off on whatever route we choose
Get to Ladybower Inn for about 11:45-12:00 ish
Meet Peccy and drool over his Sti
Talk him into leading us on a nice route for 45 minutes or so. Hopefully getting back to ladybower before 1:30 Allowing us a bit of leeway to get onto M1 and back home before 3pm
If this is a problem for anyone let us know asap, otherwise see you all at the Holmfield Arms
Nick, I'll meet you at the top of Greenside at 9:45 for the run in

Phil, Yup, gotta grap a hot steak sarnie whenever I go there
Nick, the triangle at the top of the green, outside the Av-A-Tan jobbie. (Just go to the end of Mill Lane)
Marx, hope to see you there m8
As an aside... Went to work to pick up the van today, and followed the wife home (she in Evo, me in van) THAT'S IT, SHE'S BANNED FROM DRIVING THE CAR WITHOUT ME IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. Never heard so many bluddy wolf whistles aimed at a car (must have been the car, can't have been her OUCH, she's sat behind me.

Phil, I'm taking the Dobermanns (dobermenn????) with me! Tell MadGrippette to bring her protective armour, and a 12, 14 and 18mm socket.
See you @ Holmfield Arms
